People have different theories. Here's mine.

Forget the carbs. Focus on your caloric intake. To figure out how many calories you should be consuming to lose fat, go here:

Jogging alone 2 miles a day won't do much but make your legs stronger. To lose fat, focus more on your heartrate:

and interval workouts

Good luck!

Fat loss and weight loss are different things. If you haven't been exercising and you start a routine, your muscles will beging to grow. Muscle weighs more than fat for a given volume. If you've been jogging for a month but have not lost weight it may be a combination of two things. Your muscles have grown or 1200 calories ( i'm assuming that is what you mean instead of carbs) is too small amount for your height, age, weight and activity level. If you are not getting enough calories your body will go into "starvation defense mode" . Your metabolism will slow down and your will burn less calories during the day and also lack energy.

There is a equation that is unescapable fact of weight management: (Calories consumed minus Calories burned) divided by 3500 = pounds of fat lost or gained in a given time period. Notice I said fat. If you are exercising your net weight loss could be less due to the muscle gain as mentioned above.

Also I hope you meant 1200 calories and NOT 1200 grams of carbs. That would be more than 11- 13 times ( depending on your age and size) the carbs you should be eating!

For a healthy weight loss of 1-2 pounds a week you should be eating, on average, 500-1000 calories less than you are burning . There are 3500 calories in a pound. But remember to not ear less than about 1500 calories per day!

Running only burns around 100 to 150 calories per mile depending on your weight and the terrain, so you may need to either add a bit of distance or pinch your diet somewhere. If you mean 1200 calories a day you should be fine, but if you're eating 1200 carbs a day you need to ease up on the pasta a bit. If you want to work on love handles your problem is more muscle tone than fat content, so do some work that involves the abs and obliques more. Either add some crunches and pushups to your routine (pushups work the abs if you focus on keeping your body rigid as a plank) or start doing a different cardio like swimming or yoga. The short answer is, you won't take off weight unless your burn more than you take in, so if it's not coming off at all, you need to add more exercise/shave off some calories. If it's just not coming off fast enough, you just need to be patient.

Excuse me? 1200 what of carbs. 1200 mgs? 1200 ?

1200 carbs of anything and you will never lose weight. Carb packing is one thing, but without protein to keep your muscles strong and healthy you will be crippled witin a year.

you should really talk to a professional nutritionist.

im 62 and exercise did little for me with weight control. it was diet that worked for me. i restricted my calorie intake, counting my calories and stopping when i reached my daily limit.1300 to 1500cals a day for 5months.. i lost 33lbs and then gained back 8lbs in 5months. the additional calories from drinking beer were the principle reason i gained back the 8lbs. you can have the 2glasses of wine if you cut calories somewhere else. resistance training has the advantage of helping retain muscle when losing weight. a lb of muscle uses 70cals a day just by existing. a lb of fat just 2cals. lose muscle and it takes less cals to maintain or gain back weight.

Thats a lot, give yourself a rest day or two a week. Don't cut your carbs so much, 1200 is insufficient unless you are a dwarf.
