My son is turning 1. I want to buy a toy that he can play with for a few years. But, I want him to be able to play with it now. Not the kind of toy he looks at a walks away from. Any ideas?

He got the fisher price garage with the little people. He loves the people but doesn't care about the garage. Should I just get him more of the people?

My son received a Leap Frog Fridge DJ for his first birthday. It is magnetized to be hung on the fridge, but we've never hung it on the fridge. He carries it on car trips, plays with it in the house...it has 'groovy' songs, counting, alphabet stuff and he still plays with it at 2.5 years old. One of the best presents we have gotten.

Easy enough to operate for a 1 year old (big knobs), but still entertaining for a toddler (he dances to the music). $16.99 at Target. See a picture at the link below...very cute.

Happy Birthday to your son!

It is hard to find things that your one year old will like for a long time. One thing my daughter liked, but I didn't get for my son was a fisher price basketball hoop. It stayed and was played with for a couple of years. But don't be surprised if anything he gets this year doesn't command a whole lot of attention. He is one after all.

Yes, get him more of the people. Maybe he'll like an electronic keyboard or big building blocks. Or a car where he can sit in and press a lot of buttons. If you want, try go shopping with him and see what he enjoys most. Happy Birthday to your little son!
