A UK vistors Visa gives unlimited entry into the Uk for a period of 6 months. You may apply anytime for a Fiancee Visa but the Embassy will consider the circumstances of the case carefully. Both you and your Boy friend will have been in a relationship for some time and they will require pictures of you both together in both countries.A Medical and Police report will be needed. The cost of the Visa will be £500 payable in the local currency. On marrying you will have no recourse to public funds for 2 yrs but you can work.
I can only assume you are from Eastern Europe and can tell you the Embassies deal with many hundreds of applications weekly. It is not a simple matter and rightly so the Embassy staff are very strict on who gets a Fiancee Visa and many searching questions will be asked of you both on interview.Should you be less than 45yrs old then the situation becomes even more difficult. Our Embassy staff are very polite but are well trained in what they do,if the case is genuine you get entry otherwise forget it.

Yes, you can apply. On a fiance visa, you can't work in the UK, and you have to show that your BF can support you and provide you with somewhere to live, without needing public money.

Once you are here, you have up to 6 months to marry. Once you have married, you apply for a 2 year spouse visa. On that visa, you can work.

AFter 2 years on the spouse visa, if you still meet the tests of accommodation, finance, and living together in a genuine relationship, you can get indefinite leave to remain, and a year later, UK nationality.

I think he has to apply to get you into the country and has to pay for it its about £500 and as you have been told you have to get married within 6 months and stay married for 2 years if working you get taxed on emergency tax (high rate)and claiming no benefits or medical requirements for 2 years then sit test to see if you can stay in the country - if not you get deported.
