heaps of questions and being put on the spot?

It is often very hard for people suffering from anxiety or paranoia to initiate any sort of psychotherapeutic relationship, for the reasons you state, that they don't like answering questions. The truth is that psychotherapy and counselling are not mostly about answering questions beyond the opening "What brings you to see me?". You are the one in charge, you decide what you want to tell the therapist. The therapist might make the observation that you are finding it difficult to reveal anything of yourself, but this isn't a criticism, just to put the truth into the ring.

Medication might help your symptoms to reduce, but if you want to feel able to interact without anxiety or paranoia for the rest of your life (and not just while you take the meds), then counselling or psychotherapy are likely to be your best route. A combination of medication to reduce your anxiety levels, while you start seeing a therapist, is probably the best way to go. Please do what you can to soothe yourself in going for this help, because it really will make such a difference to your life.

Of course you dont like questions or being put on the spot, who does? I dont know if a person ever does get over anxiety, I,ve lived with mine for many years. I dont know the extent of your paranoia? is it mild? is it bad? If you have major paranoia you really need to understand that its not so much you who does,nt want to answer these questions or being put on the spot, it is your illness. If you were mentally healthy, you could care less about answering questions, but your not, so it is your disease that is making it hard to come to terms with getting better. So stop playing the mind games and go see a psychologist today! Come on, if your foot was broken would,nt you go to a doctor? Good Luck

I would also like to know how to control paranoia. I've been tried on at least 30 meds and I've had many counselors and hospitalizations. The only thing that has kept me out of the hospital is not working. But now I have to get a part time job and just filling out the application has kicked in the panic. I guess my paranoia focuses on what is going on while I am away from home because it is not just work, it is when I am away from home for any reason. I cancel social things too much. My sister has given up on me being there for her. It's embarrassing because I like to work hard but when the paranoia kicks in I can't focus on my work and I make tons of mistakes. Other than that, I've been told I am a good worker with a good work ethic. Now it feels like that is all gone.

Part of your anxiety and paranoia is because you are not digging deep enough where you need to. The questions that you are afraid to answer. So....take St. Johns Wort, EXERCISE, WRITE in journal every day and do something for someone other than yourself. What one question would a psychologist ask that you are afraid to answer? They will just first ask you why you are seeing them. It takes time to build trust with a psychologist enough to "tell" your intermost thoughts. I'm here.... :) I'm not a psychologist though.

A psychologist will understand that. Just go in and let him/her know that you have anxiety and paranoia and you dont want to be put on the spot. Remember, they work with people who are worse off than you; they are trained to be sensative to this kind of stuff.

Maybe that is what you need! What are you hidding? and what does answering questions have to do with any of this? Most of the time you are asked the question of what it is you want to accompish and then they set up a program for you to reach that goal.

Stop all intake of caffine- this could be the problem of your axiety. If not maybe it is something hidden that must be found of why you are paranoid, ask yourself what has happened or what did you do to bring on the parania, find the suorce of the problem and if you can't seeing a therapist will only help not hurt you more then you already are.

See your medical doctor. Perhaps the doctor could prescribe an antianxiety medication, depending on the duration and level of your anxiety. Was there a life-altering or traumatic event in your life recently? Have you always been this way -- one month, six months, two years? These are the things that will help the doctor determine how best to help you. There is no shame in needing medication -- either temporarily or permanently.

One way to overcome anxiety is through EEG biofeedback also known as neurofeedback or neurotherapy. There are many psychologists who are certified neurofeedback therapists or there are independent neurofeedback therapist who can help you with your anxiety. If you have a compatible professional you won't feel put on the spot. They will be able to help you feel at ease and get to the bottom of your issues. Don't give up, give it another try. Omg, why do everyone always suggest "MEDICATION" as if meds are really going to cure you. Meds have bad side effect and may actually worsen your symptoms. I don't know why in this society people who seek help about feeling anxious/paranoid etc are made to feel like they're screwed in the head. Telling people oh you got mental problems go seek a doctor for medications...It can be the mildest emotional problems and yet the quick answer is oh go seek a shrink and get on happy pills....WTF? Look at what happen w/ "Cho" he was on antidepressants for years and did it work? it just made him worse...Look at Anna Nicole and her son..They were in antidepressant pills and did work?...it just made them dependent on the drugs...

Doctors and some shrinks are full of crap. They think they know the answers just cause they went to school for it. It's all about the benjamin they are after not making a person feel better.

It takes more than just pills to overcome mental problems...You have to show that person you are patient and is willling to truly help them...You can't rush them and they step by step conquering whatever problems they have. You can't expect they will get better after you help them...cause they will fall but they need to be reminded that falling doesn't mean failing...and letting out your emotions doesn't mean you're weak..It's a natural response when we get hurt by others....Surround them w/positive thoughts and expose them to positive people that they may see there's good people out there not just those who hurted them...I can go on and on but yeah....
