I believe that this happens to Christians, with the Bible too.
People don't really care about how much we know, but they want to know how much we care. Thats true for all people from all faiths. It must be a life-style, and there must be a balance, of knowing and doing, and then your beliefs will impact others around you.

I'm a muslim and I feel obligated to answer your question. Moslems are not just focused on reciting the Koran its as much important to comprehend and understand the Koran. For a moslem it would be useless if we just recite the verses in th Koran without understand and carrying out the teachings. Its the same as doing the 5 times daily prayers without learning and understanding the essence of the prayers. So if you say that Islam is more focused on reciting the Koran then you are very wrong. For example right now is the month of Ramadhan (month of fasting) now the teachings to do fastings for a whole month is in the Koran. We can find it in the verses of the Koran, now when we read the Koran, because it is in Arabic then it will sound like we are reciting the verses.

Great Question, the problem is the way its taught, and the time spent learning. There is great process North Americans take information and its at a massive rate and we do process it very well. So when the mercy came to English then we began to see a new way of being able to take our already accelerated blessings that where given and make them work better and more efficient for to days minds. We are the same humans but more advanced and we have more knowledge than any other before us. Surely we have seen that long ago and needed to get on this side of things the Right Side and leave the LEFT behind.

Their religion is based on a man born of a man and a woman. You will find his grave but Jesus'. We are taught to read and study the word of God, not to just reciting his words. For without understanding the words are just words. I have family who have to learn and recite scripture to become a member of the church. Some of the boys who have joined don't know what the words mean, I have asked them. They join because their fathers did. Does not that sound alittle like the Islamic religion.

Its not true , Muslims focus more on comprehending the words of god , and by reciting the Quran in the right way you will understand the words better , because in Arabic language pronouncing the word in a slightly deferent way might change the whole meaning.

It is not Al Islam that focus more on reciting the Al Qur-an instead of comprehending the Kitab but its followers called Muslims.
Certainly reciting the Al Qur-an is good, comprehending it is better, doing it is the best.

Muslims think that by reciting the Quran and learning it by heart they will go to heaven. They sometimes don't care what it means. They think, that God told them to recite it so they recite it, nothing more!

Its needed to be done all things, not just one. Not just one verse or one lesson. All the lessons and all the verses all working together like a fine tune engine in your car. Interesting itsn't it. Hmm wonder what you could accomplish if you did both things you said and more, oh its infinate you know, go look, look again, your eyes will get tired.

For the same reason many other religious people do this. They like to look good when they are able to site passages and seem so religious. I think this is the reason so many hypocrites never miss a day of church.
