More people speak French outside of France than within it.
There are several million in Belgium, a few million in Switzerland, and seven million or so in Canada. There are also some in the U.S. in Loiusiana, some in the Carribean, and some in the islands of the Pacific.
Finally, there are about 25 countries in Africa where French is the language used in schools and for most government business. In these countries, most people speak one or more native languages, but are also fluent in French. Altogether there are probably 100 million francophones in Africa.

Here in Louisiana French is the native language for us Cajuns. We didn't come from France but our forefathers came from France & Canada. Some of the older genenerations still speak it in the homes. It's a beautiful language and our Cajun culture is unique & beautiful as well. 2D

in the UK is is one of the 3 main languages that is offered when you go to school as an extra, so pretty much every kid in the UK is taught that and or German, with a few places now offering Spanish as well.
I can speak it OK but like said above find it easier to read it and write it than actually speak the language.
