As far as the general public is concerned, there is no such thing as a repossession title.

A repossession title is something the lender gets, and gives to the towing company to give them permission to pick up a vehicle. It merely shows the registered owner is in default, the bank actually owns the vehicle, and has given the tow company permission to pick it up. Once the vehicles has been picked up, the repossession title is returned to the bank who turns it in to get clear title taking the registered owners name off.

That will be the title they will use to transfer ownership after the auction. If someone is trying to convince you to buy a car with a repossession title, RUN, don't walk, to the nearest exit.

Being repossessed will not prevent you from getting a new title. You cannot drive a car without having it registered and insured.

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

You'll get a new title after the paperwork is processed by DMV. It won't show repo.
