I am concerned about the weight of the tub with water and a person in it, breaking the tile.
Are there any precautions that could be taken?

Ask the tile manufacturer. If the floor is in good shape and the tile is laid correctly you should be fine. see it all the time.

For this I would recommend having a flooring specialist or a contractor come and see 1) your floor 2) the exact tile you are thinking of and 3) the tub.

A good thick ceramic tile may be possible if that is the look you were hoping for. Some are made to last better than others. But I think you would have to work out the specifics with a professional first. This wouldn't be a good do yourself job.

Good luck

I would think the tile would be okay, providing there were no voids under the tile and the floor is level.
