I would recommend you get a hobby or get involved in a group activity that will allow you to focus yourself on something else.
find something you like to do, or have always wanted to do and pour yourself into it.

Well, you did the hardest step, congratulations! You have done what some people can spend their lifetime wanting to do but just cannot do it.....
I guess that the best way, is exactly what you have already said...day by day....just take it a day at a time, every day or even every hour that you don't have contact with him is a healthier hour and a healthier day!
You know that he's bad for you but it is really hard to not obsess about it, but you are doing everything right it seems. Just try and remember that there is someone out there who is a far better match for you, someone who will make you a better person, not a worse one.
Take each day as it comes and feel good about yourself that you have taken this important step....the days will soon add up to months and years....... :-)

Take on a new habit, like walking or going to social events with an old friend. You will meet another person who will sweep you off your feet before you know it or expect it and your past crazy guy will be a distant blip on the radar screen. Trust me, I have met and involved myself with a few who were like that. Guess what fixed that? I stopped looking for the same kind of girl and went the opposite way. My advice to you is stop thinking bad boys are exciting because they aren't. Bad boys are bad to the core.

Try to have someone you can lean on and talk to, friends work wonders when you are going through hard times.
And just slowly keep up your routine and everything but take out time to just relax and listen to peaceful music, cry, write in a journal.
Good luck. =)

Obsessing on him is just your way of avoiding and distracting yourself from yourself. Focus on what is going on inside you that has you so full of fear and doubt that you would be drawn to this.

You're in love, and sadly, love is blind..you will get over it, and when the fog clears, you will see how much better you are..try to get out and meet others, and network with your friends and have some fun...he will always be sick, and until he gets well, stay the hell away from him..Pray for him to get better, and for God to help give you the strength to stay away...you will be fine...but pray through Jesus, or your prayers won't be heard
