Matt J: Bajingo is an alter-ego of someone pretending to be a fundie, that person doesn't actually believe what they say.

Think I'll switch to juice this weekend. This weekend only.

Mr. Jessup: My parents are people of faith, so I guess I could say you might be right, but I love my parents, so I'll tell you to piss off.

sipplek: You're likely right, and it is a bit arrogant to think of myself as knowing something that other people don't. Every argument on here stems from people thinking they know something the "other" group doesn't know or is incapable of understanding.

Nacho Bobo: Despite your zeal, or perhaps because of it, you have the uncanny knack of displaying intelligence, usually outwitting my poor attempts at making people question their faith.

Yes, nearly as much as the intentional ignorance of the athiest fundie.

I'm not THAT zealous...well, actually, I am.

It is pretty funny sometimes, and sometimes a head scratcher.

Before this weekend kicks off, in about 30 minutes, I'd like to take this opportunity to point a couple of things out:
1) - Don't blame the bean, dude, don't ever, never blame the bean (nor the nectar), and
2) - Good to see you stand up for your parents, who obviously love you, despite your rather shocking appearance, and finally,
3) - Intentional Ignorance can be kind of fun

('a couple' in my zealous religiousnessity world can mean 3 at times)

God bless you, fishy friend. Have a great weekend.

Edit: but Rev S, you can poke around on this R&S site from the un-adult age of 13 - could explain big chunks of the silliness, intended or otherwise. In my case, I've just recently realized that some of my rather serious thoughts are, well, not so serious.

Are you sure the ignorance is intentional? So many religious zealots were exposed to what can only be called brainwashing throughout their lives, that they really don't have accurate information. They have also never been taught to logically evaluate information based on the strength of presented facts, but rather to dismiss everything that does not fit their preconceived notions/views of the world.

It often does depress me, but I'm also embarassed that people are so easily deceived and manipulated. That really calls into the question the entire idea of intelligent life...
On occasion, I just find the behaviour and statements funny, and there have been a few times when I laughed out loud.

It does not depress me, after a second and third look, it makes me sad that the festering of those non religious are the one who IS causing the zealous in religious.
The more they fester and insult the greater zealous grows.
Nothing to be laughed about, just empathy toward those who think they know, yet they know not what they say or do.
Think about it.

Live and let live. What is better than that! nothing.

It's not just the answers in the Religion & Spirituality section that cause me to wonder about people. I don't let it get me depressed. It does occasionally make me laugh, but mostly it frustrates me. People today have the capacity to be the most well-informed, logical generation in history, but instead they CHOOSE to be painfully stupid. That's what gets to me.

(Have you ever read the story "Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut? If you compare the attitudes of the average person in that society - mainly represented by Harrison's mother and father - you see things in common with them and the average person in our reality. It's terribly sad. Actually, here's a link to the story. It's not all that long, so it wouldn't take much time to read. http://instruct.westvalley.edu/lafave/hb.html )

It drives me insane when the religious people here ask stupid questions that have been asked a hundred times before about evolution and science, even though this is the religion section. And badly misspelled questions make me laugh, of course. Some of them are really funny.

It makes me laugh and it worries me for the sake of humanity that people can't see past their religion.

Intentional ignorance on the part of anyone tends to sadden me, whether that person is "relgious" or not.
