I read a few moments ago an answer about God, that is quite typical of many non-believers, this is it;
“That stuff is all BS. Plain and simple. So the question is not even valid really. No offense. Humans know nothing about God really, nothing we can be factually proven. Until then, I see every religion as a waste of time. That Father, Son & Holy Ghost stuff is a myth to keep people in chains.”
My question is, do you feel like you are in chains? Are you bound, tied down, held back by your faith? I’m not, I have never been happier than when the burdens of this world where lifted from me by my Lord and Savior. I have never felt so free in my life. I see the wonderful changes my Lord has made in my life, in the life of my family, my wife, our children, and our home. Now I see so many who will not accept the Lord in their lives, Now there I can see the chains. The chains of alcohol, drugs, family problems, the constant struggle with marriage, money, the hopelessness, the empty look in their eyes. I have family members who know the truth, but just cant seem to accept a new life without the burdens. So what chains are they talking about?

Most likely the chains of alcohol, drugs, problems, come from the oppressed lost sheeps. This one's have a chance to be redeemed by Jesus.
The chains that the atheists talks about are the truth that they can't live with that will "burden" their worldly life. The laws stated in the Bible are very hard to follow for the one's that want to live in the flesh. Fleshly desires, sexual sins, lover's of money than lover's of God, lover's of fame and power. Anyone that can't control their temptation's don't want to be "chained" to the Holy Bible.

First off, you're a narrow minded self righteous bigot. Why?
I've never touched alcohol and I refuse to do so.
Same for drugs.
The rest of my family is very christian and they never stop fighting, especially my parents, who would have been better off getting a divorce long ago.
Money is a problem for everyone. Are you telling me everyone who makes over 100K a year is a devout Christian?
I've never felt better than when I realized that the only reason I was beating my head against the wall known as Christianity was because it wasn't the religion for me. Paganism has opened my mind and my heart. I have made many changes in my life, all for the better, and has helped me better connect with divinity.
Get over yourself. You're experiences are not the be all end all. Christians face problems, same as pagans and atheists. If there was any proof of Christianity, we'd all be Christians because there would be no argument.

in spite of the fact that in so a ways as they might placed up "it fairly is all a lie" with a straight forward quantity of unanimity, I see the comparable coming type atheists. i will see, as an occasion, an atheist placed up something thoroughly incorrect and obnoxious and yet another atheist will tell that individual they are incorrect and that they might desire to tutor some appreciate. I see some atheists claiming the contents of the Bible have been stolen from Egypt; others say Greek mythology grew to become into the source, at an identical time as nonetheless others say Buddhism. I see little or no consistency between atheists and how the ask and respond to questions. What I see in this actual question is a case of the pot calling the kettle black :)

Well, I'm certainly glad that great scientists didn't think they were wasting their time and give up because they couldn't prove what they thought was possible. When did "facultally proven" become the standard for judging whether something is possible?
No chains on me...having faith is the most liberating experience I can imagine...I no longer have to make decisions on my own about a future I can't see...through faith, I have access to God's wisdom and his knowledge of the future to help me make the right decisions for myself and my family.

"The chains of alcohol, drugs, family problems, the constant struggle with marriage, money, the hopelessness, the empty look in their eyes."
Yah, uh huh, and of course Christians don't suffer from any of this.
The chains being referred to are the chains that arbitrarily take away freedom from you. The chains that tie you to authority figures. That's generally what's meant by it.
Some of us have enough common sense to avoid alcohol, drug, money problems etc., without being told these things are 'sins'.

well, i could be like all the atheists and tell you what you think cause i obviously know exactly what you think just by reading this question. funny how we all love answering questions that aren't even directed at us.
but, yes, i am free from sin and death. THANK GOD :)
but, i would like to add one thing. "chains" are very metaphorical. they can be used in any situation to describe basically one thing: restriction. christians do suffer from "chains" but it is not the chains of sin. It is the chains society puts on us. in Colossians 4:18 Paul says, "remember my chains." Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven.
remember, Jesus did not come to save us from hell, he came to save us from our sins. hell was never the problem, sin is. The angel said to Joseph, "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." If i lie, is that hell, or is that sin?
the chains they talk about are what they see as restriction from being happy. they see authority and following rules to be holding us back from being the most we can be. but, without authority and laws, we have anarchy. and we all know how that will end up.
im pretty sure you already knew that based on the nature of your question.

So, Allen, from your question I gather that you feel that ALL Christians are free of drug addiction, alcoholism, family problems, money problems? That also infers that ALL non-Christians HAVE those problems? That is a VERY obtuse outlook on things to say nothing of a Cavalier view on the world.
As a Wiccan, I feel the very same positive things that you experience, in MY Faith. I'm not drug or alcohol dependent, I have no family problems (other than the usual problems that ALL families endure), Yes, i DO have a few struggles with money, but then again, ONLY the very wealthy seem to not have those kinds of worries. I'm not maried so NO marriage problems and I would harldy consider MY life to be one without hope and empty of love.
My possibilities are boundless, I can see all that is beauty in the Universe and love and appreciate it ALL. I find it irritating when Christians assume that non-Christians lead pointless lives, filled with nothing but misery and that they will not escape that unless they accept YOUR version of Jesus in their lives. Not only do you do it with non-Christians, you do it with Christians who are NOT of your particular denomination, WHY do you do that? What is lacking about YOUR Religion that gives YOU authority to declare ALL of humanity to be miserable, solely because they either can't accept or refuse to accept YOUR narrowly interpreted version of Spirituality? Your Bible? A mere BOOK, that was not even written until 300 years AFTER your Jesus was alive. A BOOK that has been changed SO many times that you have lost count of it's revisions. A BOOK, that has been the MOST inaccurately translated, edited, and missprinted document in the history of humans on the Earth? I have 3 Bibles on my bookshelf, a KIng James version, a New Standard version and an Authorized version. No two of them is identical in wording, language and content. So WHICH is the TRULY Inspired "word of God"?
That is what "they" are talking about! You chain yourselves to accepting as TRUTH, the words contained in a single BOOK, and in fact ONLY one version of that BOOK. Your chains ARE the BOOK, each link is an individual chapter in the book. You REFUSE to see the validity of OTHER ways of worshipping divinity. You REFUSE to accept that the CREATOR made billions of individuals, each of whom has their OWN unique relationship with the universe and it's creator. You feel that the Divine wants us ALL to worship and pray in one voice, as a part of the chorus and that there is NO room for the soloists among us.
The Divine, created us as individuals on PURPOSE. We are SUPPOSED to worship in our OWN ways and NOT as part of a chorus, in one voice in synchronicity. Sounds like a confusion of methods to you? Well, the Divine CAN and DOES hear each and every single voice and appreciates each and every single WAY of worship for it's own sake. The Divine has MORE power than even YOUR BOOK can explain and concieve of. Your BOOK LIMITS the powers of Divinity, whereas, the non-Christian accentuates those powers and rejoices in that. Those are the chains that you bind yourself up with and THOSE are the chains that the REST of humanity refuses to wear and limit ourselves by.
I hope this gives you a little bit of insight on this,
Brightest Blessings,

The most effective chains are the ones you don't even notice are binding you. It makes me think of my dog. He won't go past the back step until his chain is attached, he's a good dog but has no understanding of the nature of freedom.

Well if you are all so knowing and self righteous why are there so many questions asking everyone else what they think or believe about god and condemning those who dont. Its pretty common knowledge that anyone who is happy in themselves doesnt look for warm and fuzzy feelings from others. Youre answering your own question really.
