440ml is just about a pint actually 0.92 of a pint

It's approximately 15 1/2 fl oz, so close to a (US) pint.

short-changing an imperial pint though....

How did you come to conclusion that it is most commonly used ? it may be i n G.B. or USA but certainly not in the most of the rest of the world ( I think it is 500ml ).

Strange really when you consider a pint is 568ml
