I find that seeing people merging in the last possible moments, cutting off other drivers, running amber signals, turning left after the light turns red are all really getting to me. I feel I used to be a cautious driver but seeing people actually getting ahead by being aggressive has made me drive more aggressively as well. I feel that by being safe and nice, you really get screwed. It actually scares me to see this change in own behaviour. Am I the only one who feels this way. There seems to be a complete breakdown of order in our roads.

I agree sometimes when Im driving it makes me so mad when I see people drive like that. Its so selfish, but at the same time every once in a while when Im in a hurry and I see someone cut someone off to pass another I do it. I definetely agree with you though, I really dont feel safe driving.

I know exactly what you are saying.

On the road mister nice guy doesn't win. He is the one swerving out of someones way to avoid an accident when the aggressive driver blasts through the gap and laughs at you for being such a wimp.

A certain amount of aggression is required on the roads simply to survive, I call it defensive driving.

Self preservation is the name of the game when you get in your car. If it is a case of an aggressive driver decorating the front of a truck or me , I am afraid it is no contest

Be assertive in your driving not aggressive

No, not at all. Matter of fact, me seeing more aggressive driving just slows me down even more. I want to be able to be in a position to help another driver, when one of these jerk-offs causes an accident. I can then simply pull over and give my name and # to the victim and wait for their insurance company to call me as a witness.

And oh what a witness I'll be, a NYC Highway Patrol Officer, with accident investigation experience. Other can that, the only other thing I do, is note the license plate # of the vehicle that's driving recklessly, and I'll call 911 in a heartbeat and give them all of the info.

Or if I know 1 of my co-workers is working, I'll call the Highway Unit closest to my location and advise them.

Seeing more aggressive drivers only make me drive with more safety. These fools not only are a danger to other drivers but will one day find this type of driving puts them in the ER or prison.Maybe someday they can get back to safe driving befor its to late.We can hope for the best.

Wow, you are right on target with this one. I feel the same way. It is sad that one must change into an aggressive driver just to maintain balance.

What I would give to have the polite days of traveling back in our society.

i have spent a large part of my life racing..
we all laugh as the fans leave..
many drive like they are on the track..
often wrecking before they go a mile down the road..
so i have to agree that aggressive driving is contagious
