Hi there! You just have the right question at the right time. YES, for 30 days. I will eat at 4:30am and never eat or drink anything until 5pm or 6pm, it depends on what time the sun decline or set. To close my fasting I should eat mix foods, like mix fruits, crackers, picka foods, etc. not heavy meals yet. Because its healthy and safe. I'm doing this once a year for 5 years now. But there's a week I should not fast, if women have period we cannot do it because we're impure, not clean. There's a rules of fasting. Cleanliness physically, and also the mind must also in the state of purity, also the heart. If I fast I should not get angry, etc. Its all about being clean in and out.

Nope a massive study was done a few years back that concluded that as quick as just 4 days passing with only water 80% of test subjects were hearing voices, and seeing things.
humm....whats the odds of a mid eastern vagabon not finding food for 4 days?....2000 years ago?
no suprise why "god" was more "active" in peoples lives back then LOL
no suprise why so many faiths still fast today to get "closer to god"
sillyness....it's science that has uncovered your gods

I fasted a few months ago.
I had some stuff I needed that needed God's help with.
it was a long 5 days, but I feel my question was answered.
If your going to go into fasting, think about what your question is before you need an answer on it. Also remember to drink lots of water, and exercise. Find something to keep your mind off of food with. Stay strong friend.
Best of luck to you man

May be some people will laugh at me I only fast once a year and that is called 'Karva Choth'and that is done for the long life of your husband in Hinduism.
And you are not supposed to eat or drink full day.
You can eat early morning when stars are in sky and can eat after seeing the moon at night. so no drink and no food full day.
Well Well i get alot of attention from my husband that day and a nice present as well from my husband.

First off it is important that you know that it is not FASTING alone that brings the victory it is fasting & PRAYING that brings the victory.
I just got done fasting and praying in preperation for our annual Camp Meeting.....It was GREAT! Lots of people came forward and got saved and lots of people got dealt with about stuff. A few were called to the mission field.

According to the Bible, we should not broadcast when we fast, or make a show of it - it is for our benefit alone and to bring us closer to God. God sees in secret and rewards openly. When a person fasts, they should study regularly, pray frequently, (The bible says, "pray without ceasing" - have a prayerful attitude), so that their problem or restlessness can be resolved. Jesus also taught us to freshen ourselves, wash our face, (shower) keep clean clothes on, look happy, as God's grace is supposed to make us happy. We know and trust that God will help us, so even in fasting we have no need to appear mournful.
p.i.c.: don't make a big show, because fasting isn't that - it is a personal decision and only between you and God.

Yes, because it is the month of Ramadhan and as a Muslim I am commanded to keep the fast during this month.
"O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqoon".
( سورة البقرة , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #183)
"The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number (of days which one did not observe Saum (fasts) must be made up) from other days. Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah (i.e. to say Takbeer (Allahu-Akbar; Allah is the Most Great) on seeing the crescent of the months of Ramadan and Shawwal) for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him."
( سورة البقرة , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #185)

Nope. Fasting is a spiritual discipline that I find hard to practice. Most Christians aren't taught to fast.
Muslims, on the other hand, are probably fasting now. They are taught how to fast and probably practice it at an early age. I envy them for that.

I just finished mine, but not for any religious reasons though. It's just good to detoxify the body once in a while, and I don't mind dropping a few pounds besides. Athletes do it all the time.
