Greetings,
Mathew 19:13-15.
Its a sin for stopping children to know God.Especially Parents are blessed with Children so that they be brought up with the knowledge of God.
Peace Be With you.

Every parent "brainwashes" his or her child into something. Children learn from their parents. The best parents teach their children to think for themselves and to practice moral and ethical behavior by example as much as by words. The best parents lead their children by example, not by putting responsibility for goodness off on an unseen God. God is reflected in the deeds and thoughts of the parents, so it is obfuscation to believe that the idea of God is something that must be taught as a separate concept from the flow of good parenting. A child should be taught well and allowed to choose his or her own worldview from a stable foundation. Anything more is indeed brainwashing (whether for or against the idea of God), the need of parents to hold on to a child's mind and inability to allow the child to grow normally.

My kids were given the option to choose what their religious beleifs would be. They have been to church with their Catholic grandparents, to Temple with a jewish friend, spoken to athiests.
Maybe then it's child abuse to brainwash your children to believe in God. My kids will decide what is best for them. They were not baptized at birth (much to the dismay of my very Catholic family.) I don't think they will go to hell because they weren't baptized, and when they are old enough to decide for themselves I will support them in whatever they do.
My hope for my children is that they will believe in something as adults. My strict religous upbringing only left me wil serious doubt as an adult and I have spent a number of years trying to figure out what I beleive in, and not what my parents believe in and I am still as of yet undecided. Forcing ANY kind of belief structure on a child is detrimental as far as I'm concerned.

I think it can be seen as brainwashing no matter if you let your children know about any religions or not - It's all in the individual's mind to discern brainwashing and the true meaning of 'having faith.'

children are born without any beliefs, it is the parents who put them there, so yeah, it's kinda sick to brainwash your kids into thinking there IS a god.

Speaking as a Christian, I wish people (both sides) would stop relating being brainwashed to what one believes or doesn't believe. All it does is belittle yourself and your cause. People CHOOSE to believe what they believe, or don't believe. And Christians shouldn't be forcing or "scaring" anyone into believing something they don't truly believe in. It's pointless. Everyone just grow up.

It's brainwashing to convince someone that your religion your way of worship is the only way and it's correct. Parents should tell there child what they believe but...let them know it's there decisision to choose.

Since no one is born with any knowledge of any gods, including yours, I think it is fairly obvious that is the believers who are seriously sick and twisted.

If you think we brainwash our kids into not believing in God, do you think we brainwash them into not learning ballroom dancing? or into not skydiving? or not playing the harp?
