I'm only Twenty, and my short term memory is getting worse. Hell, even my long term is suffering. What the hell is going on? I rarely drink, I don't use drugs, illegal, prescribed or over-the-counter; My work is suffering, my relationships with my friends and family are going down hill; what the hell?

In addendum, I've taken quite a few knocks on the head; especially when I was a Soldier

The knocks on your head could be a problem so check with a Dr to have your head examined. Chris Benoit brain damage was very scary.

Also have general blood tests to check most body functions are OK.

Is it possible you are depressed or stressed out? Do you get enough sleep? Every night minimum of 7 hours, at regular intervals.

Also if you eat too many sugars and carbohydrates you could have a systemic candida problem, a very common problem today and no one talks about it. Read about candida and the problems it can cause. There are books on the subject, I think I read the "Yeast connection". I switched to a diet based on that book and went thru hell ( I thought I was going to die for sure) for 3 weeks after starting the special food regime, but after that it was like a ton of fog was lifted from my head and I had again all the energy and vitality and memory i used to have. Sticking to the anti-candida diet can be hard: no sugary foods, alcohol is not good, but there is Splenda now that you can cook with.

Actually if you follow a type 2 diabetes diet you would most likely see improvement and avoid the chance of getting that dreaded disease, no matter what the reason is for your problem.

But if this continues you should see a Dr.

It has happened to all of us. I know that I have a strong mind, but I can forget the smallest things. Yet, I can remember significant things from "long ago." Plus, the foods have all been "doctored up" with this fortifier and that. I will say, watch out for bologna and cold cuts, because there is an additive in them that cause "forgetfulness." What shall we then say to these things? If GOD be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with BENEFITS, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. Peace, Love and God Bless.

im only 18 i never drink and do drugs and the same thing can happens to me too.. but i know why, the days my memory doesn't work are the days i don't focus or the days I'm to tired, i barely remember the day after. it kind of annoying, but then just try to relax and don't stress cuz i forget a lot of things when Im in a rush or what so ever. its also important to take one step at a time, when u do that its much easier to remember things. in the mornings my memory is the worst so what i do is to just sit down for a minute and just breath. it works... so just take it easy and use sticky notes :D it helps

Do activities that will strengthen your memory. Play sudoku, read a book, go for a run, or exercise a bit. Do something repetive every week, for example, go to the gym every tuesday and friday. Drink tea with L theanine, take vitamins. Meditate, do something extrememly memorable everyday so that you don't forget. if your memory doesn't improve, I would consider talking to a doctor. Just make sure that you are making every attempt to live a healthy life.

I just turned 19 last september 13 and the same thing has been going on to me for several months. I noticed that it's getting worse now and I'm a bit worried about myself. I just worried less when I read on the net that I'm not the only person who's undergoing in the same situation, just like you.
Well I'm just thinking if it has something to do with our modern day technology, like using cellphones.(,")

Two ideas: ADD, may need medication.

Overfull brain. My dr. tells me that my microprocessor has too many demands on it all at once and that if I'm not paying direct attention to what is being done or said, I'll forget it ever happened. Too busy. Slow down and learn to meditate.

Get to a doctor, give him the complete background, and have him check things out. There are physical conditions which can cause this.
