I constantly hear Christians claim that, Religion doesn't matter and it's all about a personal relationship with god. Well then would you have that relationship if organized religion had not produced the bible? Yes or No. I don't want rationalizations.

No, you wouldn't have the Bible. Maybe bits and pieces... or maybe they would be individual books themselves. But you wouldn't have the Bible as we have it now....

I've wondered, too, if it's a personal relationship, why do you need a book???? I don't need a book for any of my personal relationships.

False, it would still have been written, in fact, most of it was written before religion had much organization, anyway.

Above all the Bible is a history book, one of the best history books ever written.

And surely since our calender is based on the Bible, most people would agree with that. Or, at least, that our calender is based on Christianity, no doubt.

No, it's because of God there is a Bible, organized religion came about by the different interpretations of the Bible. That is why there are different religions.

It truly is about a personal relationship not what religion you are. If you believe Jesus (God's son) died for your sins and you confess that you are saved. Bottom line. The Bible clearly says that whether organized religion says it or not!

I say false, the Bible would exist without organized religion.

I think you may have that backwards... at least with respect to the Abrahamic death-cults of desert monotheism (Judaism, Chrisitanity, Islam). Or, perhaps it would be more proper to say that they co-evolved.

Christianity... at least in its most primitive forms... existed for about 50 years before the fictional Jesus character was invented, and written about in scripture, some time after 70 AD. In earlier writings, there WAS NO Jesus... only a 'spiritual' christ, who existed only in 'heavenly' realms.

Also... remember that there are OTHER organized religions... some of which pre-date christianity, and have absolutely nothing to do with the Abrahamic god.

organized religion didn't create the bible, so the answer to your question is "false". Not only that, but people were having relationships with God long before organized religions began, so the answer to your second question is "yes" .

False

The Bible is our Guidelines
I would say just the opposite, Without the Bible, religion might not exist...or at least flourish

Christ started the entire thing when He died for us. The O.T. prophesied that coming and events leading up to it. The N/T. tells of Christ's teachings and how we are to conduct ourselves.

We need both a personal relationship and religion (a fellowship). It is biblical. So I can't really answer your question because God provides both for men and the bible and the religion (fellowship). Is like asking what comes first the chicken or the egg?

True. If religion was a personal matter and not a special club there would be no need for an instruction book and you would not need prayers written down as you would be in your own mind with God
