okay..im here to help :)

first whatcha wanna do is...
section out the area that you want to be the "bump"
which is right in the middle of your hairline
and goes a few inches back
pull all of the rest of your hair out of the way, in the ponytail you want it in
now, grab the section of hair that you are going to make the bump,
grab a comb and start backcombing it (also reffered to as teasing your hair)
only tease it about 3 inches up, you dont need to tease it the entire length of your hair...
*****BUT before you completely tease it...you should leave a very very thin section of unteased hair out in the front, becuase you will use that hair to cover up all the tease hair, so it will look smooth********

so now, you should have you entire section (except for the thin front piece teased
take a soft bristled brush or your comb and gently flatten that section back, so it starts to look more like a bump, now lay the smooth thin front section over it, smooth it out with your brush (being careful not to brush the teasing out)
now, get two bobby pins and pin them where the bump stops at the back ina cris-cross so they lock into place...
now, you have your bump, and your pony tail, but there is a little bit of hair left over in the back of the bump, sooo
take it and gently wrap in around your elatic band and tuck it in..
so nobody will even be able to tell you have the elasic in...
but if you dont have the hair left at the back of the bump its okay...you can just use a elastic that matches your haircolor, or take a thin piece outta your ponytail and wrap it around...

and last but not least

hairspray... and then you are done!

good luck
* i hope my directions are understandlable enough..lol :)

I used to have this style years ago (they all come back eventually) but I don't know what it's called. Lightly backcomb a section right at the front (leave your fringe if you've got one) and pull the rest into a ponytail quite high up on your head. If your hair is long enough, lay the backcombed bit across your head and wrap it around the root of the ponytail. This covers up any elastic and also helps keep the ponytail up high. Hide the end of the front hair underneath and anchor with clips. If your hair's not long enough to do this, just roll and pin it round the tail.

get a bit of hair at the top of your head. Brush it up ways then twirl it twice at the back so you can pin it, then brush the sides towards the back and pull together in a pony, Finish off with hair spray. Easy to do.

okay i think you are referring to what is called a faux hawk pony and the best way i learned to do it is to brush the hair on the top of your hair forward hairspray it a lot and then finger comb it back into the ponytail.

you just make a squar in the front of your hair and you section it off and then you push it up and then you pin it back with a bobby pin and then the rest you put in a pony tail and it's called a poof or a hump or a bump whatever
