I always make a huge fuss when its my kids brithdays-we usually have a load of people, loads of food good music and if the weather is good for you get everyone out in the garen, with that many poeple they will make their own fun and the kids are too young to need entertainment, lots of balloons cake and sitters around the place and it will be great fun.

Just make sure you have plenty of food and drink and be ready to "go with the flow". My experience has shown me that you will always get some kind of curve ball, (rapidly melting ice cream, someone shows up with a cold or two more people you were not expecting) just dont sweat the small stuff and enjoy your sons first birthday because, as you know, he only gets one and you only get one, too. With 70 ppl comming, you wont be able to keep up with everything, anyway, so just hope that if something does go as UNplanned, you can win $10,000 on America's Funniest Videos, LOL. Have FUN and ENJOY your son and his party!!!

We had big parties for ours on their first birthdays as well. We didn't actually "do" anything except have a lot of food. Everyone just mingled, played with the kids and had fun just being together. Also, we had a poster with a picture from every month of the baby's life and a little caption telling what they were doing during that month (ie, "I took my first steps during this month!" "I got my first two teeth this month" etc) What's more, we put out a stuffed animal (obviously not a furry one) that all the attendants wrote a little message on and signed. The kids still have those animals.

For a one year old child, the party doesn't have to be fancy. You should serve some sort of food. My suggestion would be hot dogs, hamburger bbq, that sort of thing. You have to have a cake big enough to feed all those people. Make sure you have plenty to of non-alcholic drinks. Plan the party around your son. Play kids games. The party should not last more then two hours. I hope this helps. Have fun.

just relax and let everyone fuss over your little man!! you need to give yourself a pat on the back also as you (& your man i assume) have done a damn hard job in raising him for his first year. so sit back let your son run riot to an extent and enjoy!!

i assume they are adults? well there could be football or sports on tv. or wahtever . the making of the food and setting it out and eating and just messing around then having time to have presents and open them.
