Years ago I putted a few really long putts on a green with my driver. I found that I was extremely accurate and was able to judge lag putts beautifully. I recently started to do it again, just for fun, same result. With 14 clubs in my bag, including a Ping G2 My Day putter. Is it allowed to alternate with the two as and when I wish, or are there limitations on the use of the driver as a putter? Weird, but you don't ask you don't learn!

not only can you use any club in the bag, you can use any part of the clubheab to strike the ball. the toe, heel, back, sole. however, you can only use the clubhead to strike the ball, no pool cue action with the grip end of the club.

as to driver as putter, i played with a guy who used his driver to putt everything outside 10ft. used in sort of a bellyputter fashion with grip in the gut and gripped down on the shaft of the club. he would take the club back along the ground in a wide arc. as i remember he sank a bunch of long putts, 15 to 20 footers and left only tap-ins if they didn't go in.

The great thing about golf is that you can do what works for you. Im sure your aware that each golf club is designed for a specific purpose, and the driver is not a good putter for several reasons. One, the face of the driver is not flat, putts will not be consistent. Two, the length of the drive will make consistency on the green impossible. Three, the face of your driver is lofted, this will cause the ball to lift off the ground and have some degree of backspin, when the ball hits the ground after being hit it will bounce and try to stop due to the backspin. The putter is designed to push the ball with forward spin to eliminate as much skipping as possible. But when you get right down to it, you have to use whatever makes you comfortable and produces the results your looking for. If your sinking long puts with a drive than my hat is off to you, keep that score low!

No limit on using any legal club in your bag to putt. Todd Hamilton won the British Open demonstrating using utility clubs to lag onto the greens instead of chipping with wedges. The utilty clubs are delofted like a driver so they will also get the ball rolling very quickly and have shorter shafts so they swing more like a putter. If you have one, try that too.

Definetly can. I use my driver to putt if I am in the long grass around the green or right on the fringe. The size of the face helps cut through the grass and gives you a cleaner tap than with the little putter face.

Any club you have that legally is acceptable in you golf bag will do. The only reason the vast majority of people use the putter is simply because it works better.

Yes you can but not advisable as putters are designed to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible giving you proper control with a driver it will chip and skip a little before it starts to roll thus you have no control until it starts rolling.

What you're doin isn't incorrect in any respect. i certainly do the appropriate comparable ingredient on the tee container. Like previous solutions stated, i only sense as though the guy you have been fiddling with became disenchanted on the shown fact that she became stated as out on being too close and could have been frustated. I even have seen many professional and beginner golfers use this tactic and see no reason it may be incorrect. i became informed via my brother who's commencing up his beginner golf next 12 months that it is unquestionably concept to be appropriate to take your prepare swing at the back of your ball on the tee container, such as you do, fairly of taking it appropriate next to the ball. proceed your ordinary and better of success golf

As long as you do not exceed 14 clubs in a round, you can use any of them to make a stroke anywhere that you please. You cannot alter or repair a club during a round, though.
