I want to go swimming, but I don't have any shampoo that removes chlorine....However, we do have a soft water/water purification system in our house. Will this work just as good, with a regular shampoo? Or will I have to go buy the special shampoo?

the best way to prevent chlorine in your hair is to wet your hair before entering the swimming pool. I would wet my hair completely add some conditioner and put my hair in a tight bun. Since the hair is already wet it won't be able to absorb the chlorine. You have to use the shower before and after and yes it will work great at your home with the softwater system in your house. Any shampoo will clean your hair and you definitely need some type of conditioner after.
