On two seperate occasions (about a two months apart) my cat was acting extremely weird. She started walking sideways, kinda drunken like, and then she puked on the floor. Now her throwing up is nothing new. Between my two cats, I clean up cat vomit from the floor about twice a week. There's nothing wrong with them, they're just little piggies. But the stumbling thing is freaking me out a bit. She seems perfectly fine afterward and there has been no other health changes. I read on the internet somethings cats act that way due to flea medications, but she hasn't been treated for fleas in three months, so that can't be it. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It could be diabetes. That's how my cat acted before he was diagnosed. The stumbling can be from high blood sugar. They check the cat's urine or blood, and if it's diabetes, the cat is put on insulin, just like a person. It's really quite easy to manage, and a bottle of insulin lasts for months for a cat.

The vomiting (most likely a hairball) is totally normal, but the stumbling is NOT. Your cat needs to be seen by a vet asap--preferably when she is in one of these stages. This could be the indication of many different things too numerous to list here. Please get an appointment for kitty with your vet--something is wrong! Good luck to you, and I am hoping that this is nothing serious.

You could take her to the vet's to be sure, but she's probably fine. You may want to get her specialty cat food to help her digestive system. I've found that feeding a cat very small (a few bites) portions many times a day makes them less likely to throw up than if you feed them lots at once.

Check to see if she is getting into any cleaning products, for instance licking something you have recently cleaned. Aerosol products can be poisonous as well. The best thing to do is get a consultation from a vet. Also, cleaning up cat barf a couple of times a week is pretty normal. Cats just barf, I guess.

Lots of vomit and stumbling? I have had cats all my 21 years and have never had that problem. I mean, a little vomit here and there, but nothing severe. Take her to the vet just in case-- just like with kids, you can never be too careful with animals.

does your cat go outdoors?
i found a kitten once. had it for about a week and it was kind of stumbling. i came home one night and found it hanging half way out of its litter box, not able to move. i rushed him to the vet (at 3 am) and was told he had been poisoned probably by anti freeze. i surrendered him to the vet because he was not mine and i was younger and had no money so im not sure if he survived or not.

like everyone else will say, go to the vet. write down how she was acting before after and during and anything she might have eaten(so you dont forget when you get there)

Ok, my cat did this in the weekend and then was throwing up too. It turned out that he had FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disease).

He nearly DIED because of it.

Take BOTH cats to your vet as soon as possible, because wot ever it is does not sound good for them and I disagree with the comment " There is nothing wrong with them".

Please have it checked for heart worms. Most of what you mention are symptoms of such that cat owners tend to comfuse for something else. It is rare, but possible. Take it to the vet for a check up and test.

she needs to get to the vet, she may have had a stroke, or she has an inner ear infection or who knows, get her to the vet.
