spanner, my house isn't covered in dog hair (I've got a hoover you know!) and doesn't smell of p*ss (My dog pees outside) and, funnily enough I don't smell of dog because I bathe everyday and my dog is clean. You are obviously missing out on the joys of owning a pet, I feel sorry for you

i agree 100%
i have 3 dogs, 2 are a large breed, to the dick who laid into you,(spanner by name, spanner by nature) just because you have a dog in the house doesn't mean that you, your dog and your house smell.
my house is cleaned every morning and also before i go to bed, my home, family, and dogs are well kept and clean and i'm often complemented by guests that although i have 3 dogs live in my house, the house never smells of dogs.i think it's irresponsible to allow the home to be overwhelmed with dog hair and certainly very bad on the owner to allow your dog to use the liivng room carpet as a toilet.
you can still have good happy healthy dogs and maintain a nice clean higenic home at the same time if you are a responsible pet owner.
i hoover everyday (but then im a neat freak anyway) my dogs are bog trained, and they all sleep in the utility room (it's a big room) every night the doors are open so they can roam free downstairs, but bless them they all opt for their bed rather than the sofas.
i love the company and love my dogs give, dog is mans best friend (tho aparently not for the koreans, and the spanner , oops sorry, "spanner") and i personally would feel that my home is just a house without my dogs.

Oh yes for sure! The late Roger Caras once said:
"Dogs are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole"

I once lived far from home, in a small apartment in NYC, without my dog ( the dogs were with my parents) and it was very lonely. All my life there has been a dog or 2 residing with our family. I admit my house is not "spotless" but neither does it smell or is covered in dog hair. There is some hair and our furniture is all dog friendly but there are also lots of soft, comfy dog beds around the house. There are also smudges on the window, that get wiped off every couple of days only to have a wet dog nose up against the window and smudging it all over again. I would miss that so much, miss those dear faces watching out the window as I come home. I am aware that not everyone likes dogs and that doesn't make them bad people but I tend to not have very many of them as friends.

If you love dogs, then you probably prefer a house with them. In my opinion, a house without God is not a home, a house without love is not a home, but a house without dogs is just less of one :) Someday I want to have at least one cat and one dog because they're so sweet and I really love animals. They love you so unconditionally that they do tend to make a house more liveable. That's my opinion. Sorry your dog died, I know that's hard. You should adopt a new one soon and give a dog a home that needs it :) God bless, hope this helped

I totally agree. I have a Jack Russell and a Collie/Labrador Cross. We did have a cat as well although he sadly had to be put to sleep a couple of months ago. I miss him.

However - "A home without a dog is just a house" - well I wish someone would tell that to the landlords who so snobbishly stipulate "no pets" in their advert for their rental houses. Why would someone want to pay their hugely inflated rents and yet be denied the joys of pet ownership? Thats why we bought our home!!! Our mortgage may be high but we are free to have pets.

I also have a 9 and a half month old son and he loves our dogs! I'm glad he'll be growing up around animals. I beleive it is very good for children. It has been proven that children who grow up with animals grow up happier and healthier.

PS Spanner your name suits you very well because you are a complete tool.

I would say a dog without a master is lost. Like a sail without a boat being aimlessly blown hither and tither. I suppose we all have the feeling of being needed. Wether that is to give us purpose or not who knows. I think a house with spirit, charecter and ownership can be a home without a dog. So you dont need to have a dog to have a home but, there are all the other aspects that a dog can bring to many a home, as you probally well know. You wouldn`t have one otherwise

Yes with exceptions I live in a city and it would be unfair on a dog to contend with the noise, pollution etc that goes with city living.
If i lived in a smaller town village etc then the dog would make the home.
to many people are now using dogs as insurance policy's when they go out which is very unfair

Yes I agree, I don't have a dog now as I work full time and travel a lot and it wouldn't be fair but I would love one. My place does stay a bit cleaner now it is dogless but I even miss the hair!

Yes it is true - a house without a dog is a boring house. I will never live without an dog. They keep you so busy and they are part of the family.
