So, I went out with this guy tonight. So, cute and sweet. He met my parents before we went out and they said they loved him so that's a plus. I don't know though, I kind of ended the night with an embarrassing hug. I didn't want to kiss him ,well I do, but I would like to wait till the second date or third. To make sure I like him. Anyways, so, my hands were full, so I kind of gave him a awkward, butt out, half a hug. Kind of rested my head briefly on his shoulder and then let go and he said he would call me tomorrow. I feel really embarrassed though. I can't believe I did that and I can't stop thinking about how embarrassing and dorky I was. So, what do yall think? Do you think he noticed? Think it was a turn-off for him?

I also meant to ask how can I let him know I am interested? I have a bad problem about being nervous around guys so I don't always show my interest him them very well. As you already know i do embarrassing things. But he asked about my previous dating experience and I told him the truth. I have only dated 3 or 4 guys and it just didn't work out. I said that this date was probably the best date I have been on. Which is the truth, but anyways, any suggestions. Thanks a bunch. A lot of you have already given me great answers. Thanks again you guys.

I would give a more concrete answer, depending on your age and his age.

I'm assuming your are a teenager and so is he.

Based on that, you did fine.

You need move very slowly down the road of holding hands and hugging, since whenever a couple gets comfortable with those things, they will want more.

I was glad you said up front that sex is out til you are married.

Sex includes all forms of sex including sexual touching of the other person.

Except for brief, 1 second long, good night hug, you should not be touching each other from your necks to your knees until you are married to each other.

Kissing for teenagers should be limited to a one second kiss on the cheek at the front door of the girl's home.

I have some notes I took about this during a broadcast on Focus on the Family with Dr. James Dobson.

I'll try to find it and amend this answer with it.

PS: I give the kind of advice I do to teenage girls since I remember what I was like when I was a teenage boy. And I was one who arrived as virgin on my wedding day.

Just txt him and maybe say 'oh sorry about the embarrasing hug, maybe a kiss would be better next time'

just have a luagh about it and he wont think your a turn off. he probably thought it was cute,

me and my ex's first kiss was a disaster but once we started seeing each other more, we both relaxed and everything was fine, we used to laugh about it once we'd got over it

He's probably happy he even got to touch you. Don't worry too much unless he doesn't call then maybe worry little, but if he's in that big of a hurry to move things along he is probably only after one thing anyway, if he doesn't day after tomorrow call him.Maybe next time peck him on the cheek though, so he knows you like him but aren't ready to go any further.

Well, your hands were full, he must have seen that, right? Props to you for squishing out half a hug. Maybe next time you see him give him a proper hug and at the same time or right before you do, tell him how that last hug wasn't a, uh, proper hug..? "Sorry for the half-awkward hug last time here's a nice full one." =)

Nah, he didn't notice. He was probably too busy trying to think of what to do too. He sounds like a nice guy - he didn't attempt to kiss you, so you didn't have to do that awkward turning of the head, then he would be the one embarrassed. Relax, you're not a dork.

And you did so good....... Hug him for the next few dates too, no guy respects a slut. Kiss him on the third and tell him you had a really good time on the first.

First hugs and kisses are awkward no matter how old we get. If he calls you like he said, then he's still interested, take your time and don't rush into a physical relationship.

He probably thought it was cute. Only the person who did it would find it embarrassing. He may not have even noticed, but if he did, guys think things like that that we find embarrassing adorable.

not at all, don't sweat it...first dates are full of awkward moments if he really likes you he won't even notice...oh and kudos on having enough self respect to wait for the second or third date to kiss
