a gable refers to the type of roof you have if it goes straight up to a peak or point then u have a gable type roof. if it slopes back toward the center then its called a hip roof another way to tell is that gutters are never put on the gable end of a roof but on a hip roof there are put all the way around the house. also you will find an attic vent at the top of a gable under the eve
