Sometimes it can be weird, but just make sure you get to know the person a bit online before you meet them properly. If you exchange emails/texts/phone calls and you think you might like to meet the person then go for it. However, if your instincts tell you theres something odd about the person then go with your instincts and don't arrange to meet them.

Depends on the context - if it's from an online dating site, then no. My current partner and I met through an online dating site - it's much easier then picking up a drunk guy/girl in a bar - you can filter as to who you want to view and is on the whole much safer as you only give out as many contact details (ie email) as you feel comfortable with before you meet. Basically, you meet who you want to meet, people who meet your standards, not those that you compromised your standards for.

everyone has their own opinions on this topic, i personally do not think that it is wierd. In perspective, it is just the same as meeting someone at a bar but just not face to face. I have a couple friends who have online dated and it has worked out. ALWAYS get to know the person befor you jump into anything. and also make sure you go to a well know dating site like eharmony or match .com , Best of luck!!

No, it's not for weird people... It USED to be for weird people, but since internet usage is now so widespread, a lot of people are trying internet dating. So there are plenty of normal people on dating sites; you just have to sift through the crappy ones to find someone decent- just like in person. Also, it can be really difficult for men to meet women right away on online dating sites, because there are far more men than there are women, and oftentimes the women are just swamped with messages, emails, requests, etc. Seriously, a woman's inbox on any of those sites is just full to the brim with men trying to talk to her. So you have to work hard at being original even with the title of your messages to women so that it catches their eye. There are many women that just go through their inbox and delete all of the messages that say something like 'hey. you look/sound cool/pretty/interesting/funny/smart. would you like to chat?' because they are boring and have nothing original to say. Same generic messages over and over. just thought i'd inform you of what you should expect.

ive never tried but my mom has and she met a lot of wierd creppy guys. Most the guys she met all lied about their ages and their looks. They always had some sort of creepy fetish and one guy actually started stalking her. If you meet anyone from online I say meet at a public place like a mall or the movies. Never go home with them or let them know where you live until later when you can tell if they are freeks or not.

It would depend on the people. Some find it hard to like someone that they met online, but others think that it is easy to do.

not at all, it is after all 2007. just make sure it's in a public place. And talk to them on the phone first to make sure the person is the gender they say they are. I met my husband off the internet...I never thought of it as weird. It's better than a blind date :)
