One of my loved ones wanted his ashes poored in an iron mold and used to make 4 identical swords. Preferably Japanese style Samuri or Chinese Katanas. The issue is I can't find a sword maker that forges his own iron, they all get iron bars and cut it into shape. Is there anyone in the world that can do this? There was money set aside in a trust to accomplish the deed, we just can't find the sword smith. We are willing to travel to Asia, Europe, South Pacific to get it done. The swords must all be identical in wieght, length, width, design, and strength.

My long time friend Tony Swatton is who you want to call.
He is a well known sword maker and "Always" has special request.
Also he "Can" forge his own steel,he has the furnace, every type of anvil, and more than one drop hammer
Mixing ashes "into" steel can be tricky but I see what your loved one was wishing for.He wants four identical swords that "He is a part of".
I would talk to Tony on something like this,he would be the one I would go to if I had the same request.
He and I have worked together on projects for the movies Hook,Three Muskteers,Zoro,Blade II,and others.
His shop is in Burbank,CA.

I know someone who is a swordmaker. Contact me via message and I will give you his info.

I see an issue with this though. Maybe I am wrong but I don't believe the ashes would hold up in the forging process.

The process would literally pound the ashes out of the steel. Or any ashes that remain would compromise the integrity of the sword.

I have some experience in jewelry making and brazing and ashes of any kind are considered a contamination of the metal.

Concerning the swords being identical, I believe that is impossible. You have a long hard search ahead of you but I can at least give you a lead.

you ought to to get a greater ideal understand-how till now dropping that form of money. Shirasaya is a "resting scabbard" -- something you keep the blade housed in to maintain it whilst no longer mandatory. this is going to nonetheless be added out and oiled with frequency to sidestep rusting. For a swordsmith (in case you fairly needed the perfect), i'd try contacting somebody who's the two a residing national treasure of Japan or a winner of the Masamune Prize; ideally the two, like Sumitani Seiho. Alternately, one in each and every of their pupils would be a particular 2d, if I truly liked their signature styling and their grasp grew to become into deceased or now no longer working. enable's be frank: do you fairly have the money to spend on something you recognize so poorly? Tanto made by ability of the perfect swordsmiths are minimum $3000. Katana or Tachi will actual hit $15000. those are artistic endeavors with historic importance. once you're intense, hit upon a broker provider who deals in jap swords. you're finding at everywhere from 3-10% cost, based on the broker provider and the swordsmith, yet a minimum of you will no longer ought to learn the advantageous information of jap etiquette.

If the advice from Jim R doesn't work out for you look into the sword makers at the city of Seki, Japan. They tend to be the best that Japan can produce.

I would suggest a sword by Paul Chen. He is a world class sword maker and his swords in most cases are 'battle ready'. He is a little hard to contact directly but if you are really intent he is the way to go.

I do know of this guy who always says he wants to come over to my apartment and "swordfight". I think he's into that sort of thing, he says that we can joust for a while ( he says for play but I think he means "for fun") and then he said he would impale me...I think he's still a child at heart.
