Please don't say that the New Testament says Jesus praises women because Mary got to clean Jesus' feet. (what an honour!)

1 Timothy 2:11:
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
Deuteronomy 22:20-21:
If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the girl's virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father's house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done a disgraceful thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father's house. You must purge the evil from among you.
Genesis 3:16:
To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."
Matthew 18:25 :
Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.

I don't think zeitgeist applies to the Bible since it's God's infallible word.

1 Timothy 2:11:
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
1 Timothy 2:9 :
I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or
pearls or expensive clothes.
Esther 1:10-22:
According to law, what must be done to Queen Vashti?" he asked. "She has not obeyed the command of King Xerxes that the eunuchs have taken to her."
Then Memucan replied in the presence of the king and the nobles, "Queen Vashti has done wrong, not only against the king but also against all the nobles and the peoples of all the provinces of King Xerxes. For the queen's conduct will become known to all the women, and so they will despise their husbands and say, `King Xerxes commanded Queen Vashti to be brought before him, but she would not come.'

And quoting other Bible verses don't disprove the misogyny!
They're both God's infallible words!

The text in Esther doesn't count because that was Persian law not biblical law. It is just laying down the ground work for what takes place. Not only that but if you read the whole Bible it actually holds women up as being wonderful creatures. Read Prov. 31:10-31
Gen 2: 24
Eph 5:28, 31-33
Not only that but when the Bible says in Eph as well that the husband is to be the head of he wife and you do a word search on in the Greek you will find that like a shield the husband is to be the head. So his job is to protect his wife and family.
That is pretty neat if you ask me.
I will tell you this my husband used to be a jerk and he gave his heart and life to God and now I couldn't ask for a better husband he treats me like a queen. With respect and love and adoration. I could not ask for more because he treats me as the woman at his side as God intended Eve to be to Adam, note God didn't take a bone from Adam's foot to make her.

The Bible was written in a time and culture that was male-dominant and hierarchical. You can come to erroneous conclusions by reading things out of context.
First, Genesis and Deuteronomy are in the Old Testament, and are part of Jewish Laws that even the Jews no longer follow.
Second, you really need to look at how Jesus treated women, which was totally different from the culture of His time. I would respectfully suggest that you read the entire book of Matthew, and not just part of it.

It doesn't condone repression at all. In fact, Jesus actually elevated and improved the status of women. Women became little more than property in ancient times. We are not under Old testament law anymore- it only records the former plight of women. Your scripture in Genesis was the punishment for original sin; you forgot to include the fact that the man still has to till the earth by the sweat of his brow. Should we not talk about the repression of men?
When Jesus came, he elevated the status of women. The first one to see Him risen from the dead was a woman. When Mary testified that she had seen Jesus, normally her testimony would have meant nothing in a court of law. Jesus proved to His disciples that the word of a woman was just as good as a man. The Apostle Paul commanded "husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church". And how did He love the church? Well, he died for her! So a husband should think so much of his wife that he would die for her. One of the basic needs of a woman is security. In the Old Testament, as property, a man could say to his wife, "I divorce you" and she was thrown to the street. God put a stop to that by commanding that husbands love their wives. One of the basic needs of men is that they be respected, which is why God said wives should respect and submit to their husbands. It was not to put down a woman; it was so she could fulfill a basic need of the guy, just as he was doing for her.

it also says we were created equal to man. and The treatment of women by Jesus was nothing short of radical for his day. Here are just a few examples of that revolutionary change: He taught female students, He called a woman a daughter of Abraham as equal to men, He accepted women in his inner circle, He appeared first to a woman after his resurrection, Jesus repeatedly expressed concern for widows, He ignored ritual impurity laws , He talked to foreign women, Jesus changes the male-favored doctrine of divorce, After Jesus' resurrection,a women receives the first apostolic commission of any human,

and paul said : I suffer not a woman to teach '' he didnt say she could not.

But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. (1 Corinthians 14:3-5)

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy"

"And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him. And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. (Acts 21:8-9)

Please read my soon to be published book!!!

So what if I had to endure several hours of excruitiaing pain in order to give birth to my three children! My husband has endured YEARS of back breaking labor to feed them, educate them, aid them in estashblishing them in their own homes. Even tonight, they called either in a financial crisis or with auto problems, both of which, he came to the rescue by the sweat of his brow.

What is so oppresive about virginity? We live in a world where it is now common practice to have a DNA test to prove fatherhood.............it was so much less complicated then. Women today are commonly referred to as "hos" and "bitches".

Americans struggle with debt today. We can not enjoy today, because we are worried about the debt we took on yesterday. Who do you think keeps pawn shops in business, and the credit card companies?

Get with the times, then women were not educated and many could not read, they had to ask a husband, who could read, what it said..............

My mother lay extremly ill in the hospital for weeks, she has beautiful legs, it was and honor to me that she TRUSTED me to shave them never fearing that I would cause her harm...........

Stop preaching oppression where none exists and learn to appreciate beauty and simplicity.
