Can hernias float around in the abdominal area? Or do they stay in one set place? also, are they known to cause EXCESSIVE abdominal swelling?

Hernias don't float around because your intestines don't float around. A hernia is a part of the intestine protruding through the muscle wall of the abdomen. Depending on the size some can cause more swelling than others.
If you think you have one see the doctor immediately, you may need surgery.

A hernia is when one part of the body invades another part where it does not belong. So, I wouldn't think that it would float around. But, I am sure that if it were to get worse, like a tear in the tissues got torn further from strenuous activity,that you would get a lot of swelling. If you do have a hernia, it's quite painful and needs to be repaired. If you believe that you have a hernia and the swelling is getting worse, don't waste time...get to the hospital!

There is several different hernias.I know as I have a sliding hernia in the stomach.Some sort of hernias can be removed some they dont like to operate on.If the hernia is large enough you will notice the swelling.Have a professional opinion on it.They can cause gas symptoms and discomfort.

Hernias can be very serious and strangulate causing gangrene which is very serious. If you think you have one get to your doctor as soon as you can. They will need to operate and put in a patch .
