You are paying for people to put it on a website and tell you "hey what you want is here, look!"

but if you know where to look, they are as free as a bird.

Your going through a 3rd party to get the information. Instead, you could go to the source, like the county court records, etc. Of course, if you were in New York and wanted records from Texas, it might be expensive to go to Texas to get the info. It's like those people who offer to sell you "free" government information for grants, etc.
