call your vet
some are designed to "Do" just that, dissappear or disolve.
You need to ask the doc that did the surgery.
As long as its not red or swollen, all is good.

I would call the vet and just ask her if the stiches are disolving stiches. Often when vets have to do sitches they will use the disolving or absorbable ones just in case some are left in, or they get imbeded like you said. IF they are disolving then you can just leave it and it will soon go away. Another things to try if you are really not wanting to leave it is to disinfect a pair of tweezers and then rub the area with the stich with rubbing alcohol then try to get a small piece of the stich with the tweezers and pull it. It may be a little hard to pull (won't slide right out) because of the skin growing over it, but as long as your dog does not seem to be in pain from you pulling you should be able to get it out. Chances are that it is just a small piece of a stich and there is no knot in it so you won't have to worry about cutting it.

1. Why in the world are you trying to remove them yourself?! Are you kidding?!
2. At the office I work at, we use absorable sutures for a lot of operations. Call the vet, ask if that's what they used. If so, you have nothing to worry about unless the area looks inflamed, hair loss, or your dog is paying too much attention to them.
3. If they are not absorbable, get him to the vet. He will more than likely be lightly sedated, and in about 15 seconds, they can be removed. Unless, of course, they're ingrown. Ingrown sutures can become infected, and cause a huge problem.
trust me, don't put this off...

Very dangerous to leave stiches in any longer, must get them removed by the vet otherwise can cause infection!

Get him to the vet. If not taken out, the skin will grow around them, which is already starting, and cause all sorts of problems which will likely require another surgery to get them out.
The vet will take them out for free as long as it isn't too late so get the dog there tomorrow or you are going to have a big problem on your hands, you might have a big problem already.

When you picked up your dog after his surgery, someone would have told you a) bring him back so when they can take the stitches out or b) they are self-disolving so don't worry about them. Which one did they tell you? If neither then, a) find a new vet, b) you did not listen or c) this is just a waste of everyone's time.

Just call your vet tomorrow and ask if the dog's stitches were supposed to be removed,or are they absorbable. If they need to be removed, believe me,your vet can do it,even if it means sedating the dog.

OMG you are kidding me?? Stitches out in like 7-10 days.. You are talking a month?? Yeah they are growing into his skin.. You would like them to be infected?? If you can't figure out how to remove the stitches ( EASY ONE ) then you have to take the dog to the vet to have him do it.. What the heck are you thinking??? WOW.. I am stunned..

You should not be trying to remove any stitches yourself unless you definitely no what you are doing and your vet ok'd it... Most stitches now a days dissolve on there own, if you notice any swelling or redness call your vet right away, but i would call him/her anyways and see what kind of stitches they used, they should have told you all that but in case you have forgotten.. Call them and ask.

Check with the vet - dissolving stitches don't need to be removed. If they aren't that kind, then they'll lightly sedate him so they can get the stitches out.

Stitches normally are taken out after 10 days. They are growing into his skin. Your vet will take them out for you, if you can't.
