Same reason teleportation doesn't exist yet.
God keeps messing up things.
Seriously, because scientists haven't done it yet doesn't mean god did.

If you could take a peek into their refrigerators, you would see that they often do biogenesis experiments. You really have to see the pints of sour milk have a row with the totten tomatoes, when the doors are closed and the lights are off!

> How come scientisits aren't able to create life yet?

Ok I am taking this as in new life, a specices or something that is completly new.... I think prolly someone has, maybe in a country that has less strenuous laws on the subject.
But mainly i guess the cant because there are so many laws out there designed to hold the power in the various exutive and military governments. We have the technology, the desire to do something new, but we lack the freedom to experiment like that because that kind of power can be easily exploited by individuals and also by the governments in power. Its best we leave that stuff alone or someone we dont like may start to really screw with evoloution. power to the cool people.

They've only been at it (seriously) for about 50 years. You are talking about a process that took hundreds of millions of random combinations of chemistry to initiate. Even with reverse engineering, it's difficult to know exactly what series of random factors coincided to cause the first nucleic acids to self-replicate. It may be years before anyone duplicates the process in a lab. Remember, too, that there are many, many more pressing problems in the world for scientists to work on, and most of the research into abiogenesis is not considered a money making endeavor by venture capitalists. It's hard to get grants and donations for something that isn't particularly popular, or monetarily lucrative.

they cant cure all diseases or create a non polluting source of energy yet either. does that mean that they never will?

i dont think that creating a new form of life is a high priority among scientists. not much money or much effort is going into it.

There's no way of knowing what scientists have done and haven't done in the various laboratories scattered around the planet. Many are secret.

Because people's religious beliefs get in the way. Cloning is already possible, and who knows what else would be possible if embryonic stem cell research was legal and funded.

... What is your definition of "create life"?... We can manipulate genetics to make species that never before have been alive, if that's your meaning... And scientists are still capable of giving birth last I checked, if that's your meaning...
