Why do people interpret the bible literally, when it has so much more meaning if you understand the symbolism and metaphors repeated through out the text.

Like the story of Adam and ever is actually about the loss of innocents and the fall from it.

Let's say you get an entertainment center with some assembly required. You take it home and find out that it won't fit up against the wall you were planning on. Some people will look at the instructions, build it exactly like it says in them, and beat the hell out of the wall until there's a big enough hole to shove it in and make it work. Others would probably look at the instructions, modify it a little so it doesn't take up so much space, and make it fit perfectly in the room. The bible is kinda like that. Some live trying to emulate people in the bible, and others try to find the lessons in it and adapt it to their own life.

People should not attempt to interpret the Bible. The meaning of the Holy Scriptures is reveled to those who trust the Holy Spirit to give them understanding.
Of course you must be born of the Spirit, accept Jesus into your heart and life, and give your life over to Jesus. That does not mean every Sunday, it means every second of your existence.
