My father gave me a Remington 740, that was given to him years ago. It is in nice condition and has a scope, I was wondering about what it would be worth. Thanks for the help.

Remington Model 740 Woodmaster 30-06 caliber Semi-Automatic Rifle, 22" Barrel, Open Sights, Box Magazine,Gas Operated, Plain Pistol Grip Stock Manufactured 1955-1959 Current market value for Good to Excellent Condition $220-$300 *Your Weaver Scope is hard to put a value on but I can tell from your description it is one of the "Older" more desirable Weaver Scopes...I would say the scope itself is easily worth $60-$80 or more by itself.......

What caliber? They only made them from 1955- 1960, some parts interchange with the 7400. We have a model 740 in .280 caliber, and the last time we looked in an antique gun price guide (10-15 years ago) it was around $175, due to the odd caliber. I know I'm not real helpful, but here's a link from less than a year ago that might help.

You dad gave it to you. It's what they call "Priceless". Don't ever sell it, even if it means you go hungry. OK?
What caliber is it?
Value depends highly on condition and how you sell it. Nice to me means it shows some wear and tear, but overall is good, complete and undamaged, just minor screatches. A gun shop will give you $200 and a private seller maybe $300. If it were in excellent, like new and barely used condition, closer to $400.

A good rifle and a good caliber; anywhere from 175 to 375. Keep it; it will never be worth less and will probably be worth more.
