It seems like it to me. Anyone else find TFL particularly worthless?

TRICARE is just MARVELOUS when on Active Duty or as a retiree if you pay for PRIME, but the standard issue TFL is what I'm talking about.
BAD JOKE. What it allegedly pays for is near zilch.

I'm stuck with TFL until the next enrollment perod, and I have had to go to the emergency room a couple of times....no coverage. So that's why I can say that it is a joke.

Medicare Part B and Tri Care For Life takes care of all of my medical expenses, with the exception of co-pays for drugs. And those co-pays run from $3 to $9 for a three month supply. I have found over the past three years that the amount which Medicare doesn't pay for, Tri Care For Life does. I think it's great!

I am both the spouse of an active duty AND a medical biller. Paying for Prime is key to getting the best out of Tricare, especially as a retiree. But let me tell you, I have dealt with a lot of insurance companies in my job and Tricare is by far one of the easiest, most reasonable and most efficient of them. Requests are handled in a timely manner. Claims are processed and paid in a very timely manner. It is one of the easiest companies to get a real person to answer questions. Add in Medicare part B once your eligable and you really are getting great coverage.
Perhaps the best benefit for most military is that by retiring with Tricare, they know they have insurance. Many soldiers or family members will, by the time they retire, have ongoing health issues that would be considered "pre-exsisting" conditions if they tried to switch. I have a thyroid disorder that would fall into that category. The rates for Prime are far lower than any other plan out there...most family plans through a civilian empolyer run from $300-$500 a month. Compare the initial cost, the fact that thier co-pays are not much different that Tricare's and the graunteed coverage with good service and it is pretty clear that Tricare works.

I have Tricare Standard. I also have had pancreatic cancer for two years. I underwent a $40,000 operation, have had numerous MRIs, CT Scans, chemotherapy for 3 months last year (starting again next week), 7 trips to the ER, and a mountain of prescriptions. The total cost so far is well over $150,000 and I'm not done running up hospital bills yet. My outlay has been practically nothing and that's just the bills on me. My wife also has constant doctor bill for her ailments. I couldn't touch health insurance at any cost now and if I'd been civilian, I'm certain I'd have maxed it out and been dropped by the insurance company. You'll hear no complaint from me about Tricare!

Quit being a cheap !@# and pay the $19 a month, I have the family plan for $38 and I have nothing but good things to say about Tri Care. In the past 8yrs my wife and myself have had surguries and it was pretty much no charge as well as the meds we get. It all has to do on where you live I live Newport News VA so there is a quite a few bases around here.

It's not to me because I live in the Philippines. It's my primary insurance for me and my wife. Besides I have had a minor heart attack a few year ago so nobody else would touch me with a 10 foot pole, no mater how high the premium.
