Logic Riddle?

Question

Three men check into a hotel. At the front desk, they pay 30 dollars for a double room plus an extra bed. They go up to their room. After a few minutes, the desk clerk realises that they paid 30 dollars for a 25 dollar room. He sends a bellboy up to their room with the extra 5 dollars they paid. On his way up, th bellboy tries to figure out a way to divide 5 dollars equally among three men. He decides to give them 3 dollars each and keep 2 dollars for himself.

So if each man payed 9 dollars for the hotel room=27 dollars in total,and the bellboy kept 2 dollars, then where did the other dollar go?

The 27 that was paid was the sum of the 25 kept at the desk and the 2 kept by the bellboy. The 30 they originally paid, is the sum of the 27 they ended up paying plus the 3 they got back.

27=25+2

30=27+3

you're trying to put the 2 (bellboy's money) into the wrong equation

if the bellboy kept 2 dollars they paid 28 not 27, but to them it would seem that they had paid 9 dollars each

right money, wrong equation......the missing dollar is included in the $25..............if you try to get $6 instead of $5 from $30..........that leave $24......right? so give $3 back and you'll still have $3, right? Then give $1 to the hotel......so $24 + $1 = $25......and you'll still have $2 left as kickback....

actuall when the paid they each paid 10, which was a total of five follars over. so they each got one back and he kept 2. they each paid 9 dollars and .33 cents or .34 however you look at it.
