Kind of funny how that works....Simple truth is they are looking for answers (I believe) and argue to search those answers out..... An incident I know of is of a pronounced agnostic singer being asked to sing hymns in my church.... He was not shunned and was admired....He later, upon being Baptized addressed the congregation stating that he had never felt the way he did when he sang those songs in a group of believers and actually belived in an instant the truth even though he had not been taught it.....
Not one person in the congregation addressed his lack of faith the day he sang..... He came to Christ.....

Well religion has a big impact on my life in the real world. I live in a city where there is a diverse range of cultures and beliefs which has a massive impact on me.
In some areas I am greeted with curses or being spat at because one extremist group thinks I dress like a whore (which I don't).
In other areas of the city, people of another religion whisper and point because they don't like the man I'm with.
A few blocks away a girl stabbed her father and sister to death during a pyschotic episode - she had schizophrenia and her Scientologist parents refused to allow her to take her medication.
I was raised in a cult, and that has left me with mental and emotional scars.
We have riots in this city over religion.
Not a single day goes by without some religion having an impact on my life. It is unavoidable. Rather ironic considering I am an atheist.
I come to R&S because I want to understand these religions, express my beliefs so others can understand them and warn people about the dangers of various cults.
It would be nice, if by walking away from my computer, I could avoid all the problems I mentioned earlier. But it doesn't work that way, so I meet it head on
Lastly, who the heck said atheists can't be Spiritual? Since when is Spirituality intrinsically linked to religion? It's not. I am Spiritual, I have Spiritual beliefs which govern my day to day life. I believe that there are massive portions of our Universe that may not be able to be understood or explained purely through science. For me, Spirituality encompasses my morals (yes atheists CAN have morals!), my relationships with others and life in general.
So, sorry to anyone who takes offense to my being here, but this is a public forum and I have as much right as any Christian, Muslim, Jew, Pagan etc to be here.

Actually, your questions also appear in the "all categories" section. A question regarding religion and spirituality might come right after one asking for homework help and right before one blatting about a boyfriend problem. So nonbelievers and atheists are not necessarily coming to the religion space looking to start trouble.

Why ARE there so many nonbelievers AND atheistS...
Correct grammar, my dear. And they are here because they can be. Also, just because someone doesn't believe exactly what you do does not make them nonbelievers. We all have the right to believe in what is true to ourselves.

There are so many answers when it comes to religion... It almost qualifies as another Polls and Surveys group.
I think the answer that is given by those is to keep an open mind which is almost a religious state in itself.

Always know that religion is going to be like the biggest conflict between people. There's never going to be a right answer for anything, and people have been fighting over who's right/wrong for ages. People are always going to try to prove their point/or bring other people down by saying "this doesn't exist" or "you're religion is wrong/stupid". Simply learn to ignore the comments these people make, and be the better person and don't judge them. simply ignore them. always keep your beliefs high and don't let anyone change you mind.
=)

This is a place for debating religion, for and against. I heard about this through the Atheist Alliance International homepage.

They are looking for a fight, or looking to be enlightened. Some try to just bring up fights and trouble, but some do give good answers and know what they are talking about.

You think it's kinda odd, huh? Well, we are here to stay because we like to talk about religion and why we don't believe in it. I find it odd that the Christians seem to think that RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY means Christianity. This is a place to discuss religion and spirituality...PRO or CON and I'm CON. We don't need a membership card of some religion to be here. Neat huh?

Q: Why is there so many nonbelievers or atheist here in a space that is for religion and spirituality?
A: Probably there aren't as many as they appear to be. Multiple IDs probably account for most.
