Life after death does not reqiure life before birth. How does that logically follow? The Bible teaches everlasting existence once you exist, but before you are conceived you aren't even you, you're nothing because you don't exist.
And you are right, having faith in something doesn't make it true, but if something is true, having faith in that truth is wise, don't you think?
The Bible is not "just" a book (are you putting your own opinion here?), and it is true (although you say it isn't, something else that is your own unproven belief).
But you are wrong about something being true if it is only part true. That is absurd. That's like saying the milk is not poison only because it's part not poison. Would you drink it? The Bible is either true and deserves to be heeded, because it is truly from the all-knowing god, or it should be thrown out because it has untruths, the like of which God would not inspire. But the Bible shows itself to be true, Christ validated it, and it is more trustworthy than any other writing of human history. I'll believe it and God rather than illogical rants of atheists. How bout you?

I believe in "life after death" and I do believe in "life before death". Your question is clearly posed towards Christians and indirectly at other monotheists, but remember that there was metaphysical belief and study long before the beginnings of modern monotheism. Logically speaking, it would be irrational to base a rejection of all metaphysics based on a rejection of only one system. The reverse of your statement applies: Even if a part of something isn't true, that doesn't mean that all of it isn't true.
The belief in reincarnation is probably one of the longest held religious beliefs and acknowledges an existence before birth and one following death, but this is only one of many ancient beliefs in a discarnate existance that includes such a belief. Although modern science is currently attempting to understand consciousness and being in the human brain, their most recent discoveries lend some level of credence to animism. The current theory is that memory and consciousness is a function of co-acting magnetic fields, and that molecules themselves may hold some memory. If that theory is correct, then it could be said that trees and even inanimate objects could harbor some sort of 'soul'.
At the very least, our best guess is that memories and consciousness are formed from some kind of energy. According to the Law of Conservation of Energy then that energy that once made our consciousness and memory will continue to exist until the end of the universe and could possibly find itself in another corporeal form.
It's not such a rediculous idea and one that may someday be considered scientific fact.

Life is only the breathing being. So we have to call it existence. And yes, we exist (alive) before birth and we also exist after this life.
Your brain is not like a mechanical computer. Your computer dies and there goes all your files. Your brain is mortal matter but it also contains a mind. That mind is a part of your entire being. When I talk of body, mind and spirit, I'm not saying body, brain and spirit. Your mind has been referred to as 'soul'. It's all of who your are, all your knowledge.
While it's true that in heaven you will not remember the tears of this life, there's nothing said about you completely forgetting your life. If that were so, then why go through this life at all?
The fact is, this life has a purpose and that purpose brings about growth, you can't get any other way. It won't be wasted. What you know here and now, is a tiny pinpoint, compared to all knowledge and that knowledge will be yours after this life is over.

as often as it has been tried, by those greater that you and I never once could anyone compete with the truths that the Bible speaks.
I would suggest that your brain has over ridden your senses, I do not mean this in an offensive way. what I mean is has you intellect covered up soul so much that you cannot feel it, or are you so young that you have not yet come to the full realization that you too will once die and then face judgment. I have tried this many times with old people, give it a try sometime, ask them how their bodies feel and they will tell you just how broken down they feel. then ask them about their soul, how does it feel? I think the answer will surprise you, however I doubt very much that you will try this simple little experiment. So I will let you know what I found. They reply, my soul feels young, it feels like it did when I was twenty. this is another proof to me that our souls are meant to live forever.

The fact is...your argument could be turned around. Neither of our camps has absolute proof of either opinion. You could be just as wrong as I am (about life after death) Personal & confirming events have happened throughout my life to solidify my faith in Christ. I wish the same would happen for everyone~ but the fact remains....it doesnt. Just the same - no one has experienced death and come back to fully state there is NOTHING there either. I'd rather error on the side that there IS something more...that I have a creator that is involved w/ my life , who I will stand before on that day!
Someone in your previous post states
"Heaven or life after death is a comforting tool to those that cannot handle or cope with the idea of death itself"
It seems to me that it would be easier to live life unaccountable..... rather than knowing we are accountable for our actions on this earth~ so I dont see the rationale here.
PS-I have faith that the sun is shining even when I cant see it.... do you??

YES ABSOLUTLY
when you die you just go back to being what you were before birth and keep doing it over and over and over again
till you begin to get the real message hidden in the bible
Moses and Elijah partied with Jesus on the mount
they understood the message of Life Everlasting
You dont get any prizes after you die
the greater trick is to go through your own rebuking of what it is said this world can give
and create your own self into something that doesnt even die
Science itself has begun to validify the concepts
A human cell removed from the body
.........and more important from the person in the body
can live for 300 years just in a nutrient solution
so why do our bodies age and die when we as life are in them?
A person with multiple personality disorder
can have cancer experienced in the physical body
.... they can switch Identity - as the new identity takes over the body - the cancer DISAPPEARS INSTANTLY
........... Why?
This is verifiable science baby
not only is it science
but
if you really were to find out what is going on in this world
then go read those dogma books
it's all right there and plain to see
you only need the eyes to see and the ears to hear
all the dogma books
the vedas
the alchemist journals
the mystic saints writings the old and yes even the new testament
Of course you have to read it as if you were the one saying out loud "I" to indicate your 'I'

No. My body and soul are eternally linked, and although I will die and "fall asleep" as I think Paul puts it, when Jesus comes back He'll give me a different body with the same soul. That body won't die like this one.
You then start to talk about how the Bible isn't true... do you have proof of this? No, you don't. You don't know that the things didn't happen how they were written, or that what is said doesn't have a broader meaning than just a "story" recorded afterwards. To say the Bible isn't valid because every word of the story doesn't recount every action exactly how it happened is bad 1) textual criticism 2) theology.

No. While the Bible states that God "knew" us before we were conceived, that is really meaning that, because God is omniscient, He knows all of us even before we are living. We are created beings, just as Adam and Eve were created FROM NOTHING in the beginning. Adam and Eve did not exist prior to their creation... neither physically nor spiritually. However, God created humans with souls/spirits which are eternal once they are created. Just as the angels, who are "created beings" are eternal after their creation, they did not exist PRIOR to their creation.
This is one belief that the Mormons have... they believe that we are all like little "spirit babies" up in heaven with god until the time that a physical body is created via conception, when the spirit baby then "enters" the body and becomes a human. This is why Mormons have such large families.... and have practiced polygamy. They believe it is the "duty" of all Mormon couples, women especially, to "produce" (provide?) as many physical bodies for these spirit babies to enter and become human, so that they can "continue" on their spiritual "development" journey... a journey which, in order to be complete must have the "human" segment, and then, after human death, they have a "chance" to become gods, themselves... as Jesus and the Father both had done previously... to become gods themselves.
When we die, yes, our physical brains die. However, our spiritual natures (souls) which contain our "personalities," memories, etc... the intangibles of life... live on. We will remember SOME things from our earthly existance, but other things, such as sufferings, will not. Our brains are merely the physical "function" of our spiritual beings, and the "control center" for our physical bodies. It is not the dwelling place of our spirits... which really have no dwelling place.
As for faith... faith is the conviction of things not seen. It is what is referred to as the "Leap of Faith." Without faith, how CAN we believe in something like God? If we don't have faith that He exists, then, for us, He does not exist. So, no faith, no God... period... it's logically mutually exclusive.
What makes the things we "believe" in true is that God says these things are true. And since we have faith that God is real, then what He has said to us, via the Holy Scriptures, has also got to be true. There are some things which are actually impossible for God, and one of those things is that it is impossible for Him to lie. Therefore, everything He has told us about Himself is the truth...the WHOLE truth. If the Bible is not "all true" then ALL of the Bible is then in question. As the Bible verse goes, "A little leven levens the whole lump," or more modernly put, "One bad apple can spoil the entire bunch." Like a house of cards, if even ONE card collapses, the entire house collapses. This is why it is that God's word is true, in it's entirety. If not, our faiths, our beliefs, our God collapses completely.
I hope this helps you understand how the Christian faith views these issues you have brought up. Thank you for "listening."
Have a blessed day!

Definitely there was life before birth! We are not home here on earth, just passing through on our way to eternity. We are spiritual beings having an earthly experience and we are expected to learn (mostly how to love one another and live righteously) eventually finding our our way back to our Father in Heaven.
You can take your knowledge with you when you die and leave your mortal body.
I don't have proof of this. I believe it though because it makes obvious sense. The LDS Church teaches these principles, and no, I am not brain washed as a lot of people think LDS are. I can think for myself and I believe that there is a Father in Heaven and He wants us all to return and live with Him when we depart this life.

a good old scientist told you the concept of a brain that God created? You know, scientists' job is to discover and to disapprove what was discovered before. They keep rediscovering things over and over, going in circles, lying to people. The brain is a tool you see! A spirit is within the brain! The brain is just a machine that carries the Spirit! Without the brain Spirit cannot communicate with the physical world, but you are still you accept in a Spiritual Realm, not physical! There are tons of stories of people coming out of their bodies, or coming back from death, or having their loved ones who passed away warn them in a dream. Whatever you want to believe in is what you will be doing your research on and what you will be studying! You want to believe empty and cold lies of scientists? Go for it! But remember, scientists only like to sound smart, but they have only discovered a little bits of peaces of what God has all the acknowledged of that He will never reveal to them!
