I think it would be fine having anyone one in your wedding party that you choose. And as long as the atheist friend would not be offended by mentioning God or any prayer offered at the wedding.

no, it is NOT wrong because where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom! In fact it's a good thing for an atheist to be present in the mids of Spiritual people to feel freedom! However, expect a lot of people being rude at you for asking this question. Good luck! =)

If it bothers you in any way, then why do it...if it would bother you more to exclude the person, then why do that? Your wedding party is your decision (well, you and the groom...needs to be some agreement there or that isn't a strong start to a marriage *smile*). Have you tried asking God what he thinks and then listening for the answer?

No I do not believe it to be wrong, because Jesus was a a sinners wedding, and also the marriage is a model of Christ and the Church, so I believe that it would be a great witnessing tool...

what would that have anything to do with anything? unless that atheists was someone you was cheating on your husband with then it would be disrespect.
EDIT: i think I'm really lost with this question. i don't understand why you felt the need to even ask this. if you asked bout you marrying an atheists i could understand that more then you asking bout inviting one to your wedding.

I don't think it's wrong. The ceremony is mostly between you, your husband, the clergyman and the Lord.

Having an atheist present does not deter from the love you have with a person.

i don't believe god said to exclude the atheists anywhere in the bible. i think, if fact, he said to welcome them as brothers? i thought christians believed we were all gods children (oops, wait, except for the homosexuals, right? they don't count last i heard so you better send off a questionnaire with the invite and make sure everyone is 100% straight...)
and before i get called a bigot, i am, of course, kidding.
