I ask because I inherited one, it's an antique, and I want to take the necessary precautions when setting up a shooting range. I know they aren't very powerful.

All you really need is a dirt berm at least 25 yards away and that will stop the bullet. since it is a firearm you might not be able to legaly shoot it on your property. There might be a structure law saying something like you have to be at least 1,000 feet from a structure. Such laws are there to keep people from shooting in town. You also might need a permit if you are in a city or town.

Not much, but enough to kill or hurt someone. You need to make sure you are not shooting into the air and that all shots go into the soil or dirt where you can see it.

Up against a hill is good, or in a canyon, etc. If you live in the flatlands, shoot somewhere where you are higher than your target so the bullets go into the ground.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by antique, but it it has not been shot by someone you know, you really should bring it in to a gun smith and have him check it out for you. Most places will do this for no or a small charge. Buy a cleaning kit and a few boxes of ammo from the nice man and thank him.

not much as in foot pounds of force. But it is enough to kill if there was a mishap. keep the muzzle in a safe direction at all times.

If you are using the proper ammo which the gun is chambered, you need not worry about the gun blowing up on you.
