You will have to make your own choice, because they are both very different in many ways.
Sony is a hardware company, and the PS3 is an astonishingly well-built and impressive piece of hardware. However, its future-proof design is new and difficult for many programmers to make best use of.
Microsoft is a software company, and the 360 is very easy to understand and program. Sadly the hardware is pretty poor - low specification and ridiculously bad reliability.
From the technical viewpoint, and in the long term, the PS3 is the better investment. Right now though the 360 library is much larger.
For me the PS3 was the obvious choice - I browse the internet and watch YouTube videos; watch Blu-Ray discs and DVDs; have over 300 CDs stored in it; stream stuff from my PCs to the PS3; stream stuff to my PSPs from the PS3; and have spent at least 130 hours playing Oblivion, not counting Motorstorm, Flow, Super Stardust HD etc!
If you want to play Halo3, you'll need a 360.
If you want to play LittleBigPlanet, you'll need a PS3.
The graphics are so close that they won't be the deciding factor. I think the PS3 offers the better value, but I use all its features. Recent studies have shown that PS3 owners use their machine more than 360 owners, but if you've just spent that much, you would, wouldn't you? :-)

The PS3 is better.
I tell you why. People don't realize that a Xbox 360 is still a DVD that holds a total of 4.7GB some DVDs you can get that has 7GB.
A BLU RAY is 50GB you know how many DVD that is com-paired to one Blu Ray.
What does that mean
That mean for some of the game that both systems make XBox 360 must Compress there files which equals slower loading and even bad distortions.
For example. GTA4. The release date was help back again because Xbox 360 clearly stated that there have trouble compress the whole file on to 1 DVD and the might make it 3 DVD.
As for PS3 they only need one Disk.
The games will get better with Technology. And Blu Ray is making it look sweet.
But save your self the time get a PS3. Games will get better and you wont have a screen pop up during game play and say PLEASE INSERT DISK 2 or 3 or 4

Ps3 nvdia rsx gpu
Xbox 360 outdated dx9 graphics.
Ps3 hdmi 1.3 supports deep color
360 elite hdmi 1.2 does not support deep color
360 you have to buy addons $200 hddvd, $100 wifi, $20 quick charger etc Total cost just to use 60% of what the 360 is capable will run about $700 to $800... You can only buy microsoft harddrives.$100 for the 20gig, $179 for the 120gig
Ps3 comes with hd blueray, comes with wifi, comes with quick charger, .....For $499 the ps3 is the better deal......it also comes with the ability to hook any external hard drive up or add any larger hard drive for less then $100 for a 300gig.
Ps3 games on 50gig blueray (more space for hd graphics, hd sound without sacrfificng the game size and number of levels and challenges)
Xbox 360 games are on 8gig dvds Limited space for hd graphics and sound so either sacrifice graphics and sound or have a smaller game that feels incomplete..
If the 360 is a seventh gen game system then by comparison the ps3 would be considered 8th or 9th... It will take 2 to 3 years for game producers to fully utilize everything the ps3 is capable of.....Even with todays games the ps3 allows for more AI characters and full 3d and 4d motion realism...THe very limiting 360 is two years old and is based on what was already becoming outdated at the time of production of the 360.

"The Xbox 360 is subject to a number of technical problems. Since the Xbox 360 console was released in 2005 the console gained reputation in the press in articles showing poor reliability and relatively high failure rates."---
Listen to the experts:
MSN reviewed the PlayStation 3 saying, "the PS3 is a versatile and impressive piece of home-entertainment equipment that lives up to the hype … the PS3 is well worth its hefty price tag."
CNET awarded it a high score of 8.8 out of a possible 10 and voted it as its number one "must-have" gadget, praising its robust graphical capabilities and stylish exterior design while criticizing its limited selection of available games.
Hexus Gaming reviewed the PAL version and summed the review up by saying, "…as the PlayStation 3 matures and developers start really pushing it, we’ll see the PlayStation 3 emerge as the console of choice for gaming."
At GDC 2007, Shiny Entertainment founder Dave Perry stated, "I think that Sony has made the best machine. It's the best piece of hardware, without question."

PS3 graphics are way better, but the 360 is cheaper. So, for now, I would say 360 because the PS3 lacks games. But in the near future, Im sure the PS3 will be better.
XD I have both

PS3 is better.
Let's compare them
PS3 has 8 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3x2
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 50 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular DVD (4.7 gb).
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operations per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-operations per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in card reader (except 20 gb version), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 130 $
Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of doom" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 8 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it.
Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is a uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.
In some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360". :-)
I own Ps3.

Xbox is better. It has Gears of Wars, Ps3 has no kind of games worth buying. Anybody can make a stupid first person game. Resistance Fall of Man. Those are the kind of games they try to show their systems power with. But its just dumb. PS3 thought they were so cool, testing our loyalty to the system by only releasing a little and having the highest price. They are doomed and trying to recover from it. Just look at the PSP, they can't even save it. Peace of crap.

HA nobody knows for sure yet. 360 is ahead with the amount of games it has and it's online service, but in the future the PS3 could surpass it seeing that it offers more though you'll have to wait. Get both.

360 because 1. huge library of games and some nice exclusives. 2. price drop, hdmi input, and upcoming chipsets will make the 360 run better than it used to. 3. halo 3 and gears of war.
