And what 'great religions of the past', pray tell, have disappeared? People have been trying to stamp out Christianity since it began, but God always has a remnant that will continue. You are only expressing your opinion when you say that it will probably disappear. The reason the Bible is quoted is because has proven to be reliable time and again. Archeologists are always finding proof for the existence of places that are only listed in Biblical text. Josephus, a very prominent Jewish historian, is a great help in proving many of the Biblical narratives.
And, there are not 'thousands' of Christian denominations. There are thousands of churches, who basically fall into 4 or 5 categories. Catholic, Mainline, Evangelical, and Charismatic. The evangelical and Charismatic groups of Christianity all believe in salvation through faith in Christ, resurrection of Christ, and the virgin birth. which are core doctrines. Catholic and Mainline churches are often divided in their doctrines, only because men have imposed their own views on the scriptures. Popes and liberal preachers have changed the word of God to fit their own view of theology, so I don't take much stock in what they teach.

Duh, where else would some one go to prove God and Christianity? But let me ask you.
What is your evidence that the Bible is not true. You site what you consider facts, but where did you get those facts. Was it from a book? What proof do you have that the facts in the book are true. Just because someone wrote them down? That doesn't make them true. You didn't site your references. You go to books and think they are accurate. Why don't you just respect the fact that every one has the right to believe the way they want to and leave Christians alone. Where do you get the idea that Christianity will disappear? It has been around a lot longer then those books you quote from. And it will still be around when you are dead and gone. You need to change your beliefs before you are in a state of shock. Don't put down something just because you don't understand it.

The Bible points to Christ, however it is the Holy Spirit who directly speaks to my heart that Christ is the way the truth and the life. Why do I have to reconsider my beliefs- Christ is my life, I cannot and will not change because a mere human tells me I should. I know that you will find yourself in shock when the truth of Christ is revealed to you. Just think about it this way= What if you are right? What if Christ is not real, and I will die and nothing happens to me but death? That is not too bad, living a life for Jesus- however what if you are wrong, and you find out that Christ is truth and you wind up in hell? Would that bother you? By the way, I am not serving Jesus just because I want to escape hell, I would serve Jesus even if there was no hell, because He is worthy. Just because you chose not to believe, please do not tell others that we can't. Thanks!
I obey God whom I know, not people that I don't

If Jesus never existed, nothing that is would be. Simple enough? You obviously believe in probabilities. It is highly probable that Christians are correct. If we exist simply through the probability that we might have existed, what mind conceived of that probability? Or do you maintain that probability can be valid in the midst of nothing?
Your concern over my well being at the arrival of another age is kindly noted, but no thank you.

I don't need to use scripture to prove Christianity -- but your question "what if Jesus never existed," is irrelevant to the argument, because Jesus has been proven to have existed. The historian Josephus and other sources mention Jesus, called the Christ.
If you can prove he did not exist, then I will try to prove Christianity without quoting scripture to you. It's not really that hard of a task!

Everyone has there own way of getting strength are to cope with daily struggles in life. Some use scriptures and it works for them. My advice to you if it annoys you to hear scriptures dont question the faith to a believer. Christianity has been tainted by a hand full of bigots. But also it has place good morales and values on a lot more.

So many errors.... so little time!
Steady my boy, you've been looking for legitimate academic discourse in all the wrong places!
About 90% of all those who claim Christianity will agree on about 90% of what the Bible really means. I think that given 2000 years, and 6 billion people, 90% agreement is pretty darned good!
But we DO so love to quarrel about that 10%!!!!

The Bible is a written witness an affidavit of the authors telling us what they know about Jesus. An affidavit will be valid in court I say with all the witnesses he had... he is for real

Because, we as humans do have cognitive reasoning (which God instilled in us) to ask questions that pertain to our very existence. After searching for that very truth and asking the questions of why we were born, what our purpose in life is, and is there life after death.... God has touched each and every one of our hearts and souls with His Spirit. We chose to accept His Gift of Grace, Jesus Christ, into our lives as Lord and Savior. So in turn, God, in justice and fairness has "opened" our minds to His Truth.....our ultimate destiny is to participate in rulership over the entire universe as glorified, immortal children of God!
