I loved the book. Very intelligent. It made a lot of sense to me. I can even consider all that to be true, you know, Jesus and Mary Madelene, and I think that would be OK. I am not saying that's true, I just think that could be very possible that men could have changed everything for some reason. If Jesus had a spouse or not, that would never change my love for Him. He is a Master whatsoever.
Peace!

Science? God is beyond science. If you read the Bible you will learn that there are many things that you will never understand. Things you will never know. No one knows the exact history of anything and the people who were there (i.e. The Great Flood, etc.) are not living, so we cannot get first hand knowledge. As for people who are trying to discount the Bible by science are the people who see fault in what they don't believe and/or understand. These are the people who told us that we evolved from monkeys. These are also the people who took God out of the government. Look how far that has gotten us. So should you read the Davinci Code or the Bible? That's up to you. You shouldn't base what you believe on what others think.

i would suggest the Bible, it is neither fiction or myth. It is Historical evidence, the Word of God. It has not been proven wrong in any way including science. In fact science confirms the Bible. Science used to believe the Earth was flat, there were only 1100 stars, that earth sat on a large animals back, that all stars were the same, that light was fixed in place, that air was weightless, that winds blew straight, that sick people must be bled, the ocean floor was flat, the ocean was fed only by rivers and rain, that germs on hands should be washed in still water.
The Bible had it right, when science was wrong. The Bible taught that the Earth is a sphere (Ish 40:22), there are incalcuable numbers of stars (Jer 33:22), the earth floats in space (Job 26:7), Each star is different (1Cor:15:41), Light moves (Job 38:19,20), air has weight (Job 28:25), winds blow in cyclones (Ecc 1:6), blood is the source of life (Lev 17:11), ocean floors contain deep valleys and mountains (2Sam 22:16; Jonah 2:6), that oceans contain springs (Job 38:16) and when dealing with disease, hands should be washed under running water.

Read what ya want. But you want our opinion, right? Read them both. The DaVinci code is interesting, and the Bible is abounding in numerous truths and great parables. "Myths that have proven wrong through science"? Wow, I'm so glad you learned to repeat what your textbooks said without doing some honest research first.

Assuming this is an honest question, and not just a snarky way to piss off some Christians, here is an honest answer.
The Bible. The stories in the historical books: Judges, Samuel, Kings are actually pretty good. Lots of battles, sex, and overall nastiness. Besides, I do not believe you can consider yourself educated without having at least a passing familiarity with the Bible (or Homer, Shakespeare, etc.)
The Da Vinci Code is the literary equivalent of pot. You feel good while your reading it, but the next day you just feel really stupid.

I don't think you'll get even a glimmer of spiritual growth from the DaVinci Code. You may feel the bible to be disproven myth but there are nuggest of profound truth and moral guidance. Brown's book is just an interesting read.

If you want to be entertained, read the DaVinci Code. If you want spiritual enlightenment, read the Bible. "Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an everflowing stream." How exactly does science prove that wrong?

Well lets see....fiction actually does not have to be based on any facts at all.
A myth however is based upon some facts, historical, or otherwise. the have a bit of foundation to them.
As to science proving them wrong...nay...they just can not prove that they happened ... besides science changes its stance about every 10-20 years on things. that is why God gave you a brain to discern fiction, myth or truth. Good luck. K

Gee...here is an interesting thought...Read both. Take what you wish form either...then read more...and more ....and when you are done reading, read something else. Knowledge is power, and you can never learn too much. If it is the whole religion thing you are interested in, then read up on all of them...That'll keep you busy for a long long time. But in the end, you will undoubetly learn something, and just might find your own truth in the mix somewhere.

Might as well read the bible, at least then you'll be able to intelligently discuss it with other people who insist that it's not fiction.
And I expect it'll have a bit more staying power than Dan Brown. His writing isn't that good anyway.
edit. Actually, I agree with the above poster. Go read Dostoevsky. Much better than the other options.
