Average would do 1 or 2 until the word got out how "average" they are, who wants average wedding pics?
I might do 3-4 per year its not my field, Evan has nailed it, 30 sounds good (30 x $5000 = $150,000pa - enough to pay assistants, upgrade gear, pay taxes, buy petrol etc - and actually earn $30-40,000 in the "hand" a year) -

For mainstream wedding photogs, 30 sounds in the ballpark. Some work at popular "destination wedding" sites, and shoot many more, maybe in the hundreds per year. Others are weekend warriors with another full time job, and may shoot 8 or 10.

A couple of thousand per wedding. It all adds up. Depends on how many he/she does. The cost of wedding photos is outrageous. .

Two per weekend. If he is cheep. 4 or 5 a week if he is REALLY GOOD.
Then he can do portraits. But the hard thing is getting you name and samples out there for people to see and then are they willing to PAY FOR YOU TO DO THAT WITH THEM.????
