As far as near vision, you need to have at least 20/40 in the better eye. If one of your eyes cannot correct to 20/20 for distant vision you are disqualified. All types of astigmatism over 3 diopters is disqualifying.

Yes you can. You can even join the airforce, but you cannot fly without 20/20 (at least last time it came up in conversation MANY years ago)
Join up if you wish, you get to see some exciting places and yes some dangerous ones sometimes.
