I was planning on making a poblano and chicken chowder for dinner tomorrow night. I couldn't find the poblanos at Stop and shop. (I live in CT.) Anyone know where I can find them locally, and fresh. Not dried, or canned. Also what exactly do they look like?

I'm not sure about Ct. but here in California, open air Hispanic markets (flea markets, rematito's) are abundant. Try outdoor farmers markets for fresh grown as well. Both sources here in my town, Calif. you can find every pepper that grows.
Good luck in your town!

*Poblano Description:

If i remember correctly, they are a dark green rather large oblong pepper. What I mean is that they are quite curvy shaped and not symettrically shaped. I think they are a mild pepper and probably taste excellent.

you can probably find them in a gourmet grocer, or at fresh market. don't give up on this pepper!

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/avqSo

If you bought Green bell peppers use about half of what the recipe calls for or the taste will overpower your food. The site I linked below shows all the different peppers and which are interchangeable for substitution.
