A friend of mine told me that the new ford mustangs were going to have an all glass top on it. I know nothing about cars or models so I have no idea if this is true or not. Does anyone know what she is talking about???

She's refering to the concept car from the current Mustang.

It was built on the Jaguar X platform, had an all glass roof (not a moon roof, but an entirely glass roof-a bit like the Scion Tc but much nicer)

For the production model the two biggest changes were a switch to a much cheaper platform, and the loss of the glass roof which was also cost prohibitive. Now that a conv't model is out it should be possible to do the glass roof cheaper (same structural increases to keep the frame from warping and the top from collapsing in a flip); however there has been no talk of reviving the idea for a normal production Mustang.

They've had some concept cars come and go with this, but the Mustang will never see it. Too many detractors for the core Mustang buyer. It adds too much weight (glass weighs more than sheet metal), its not as structurally sound as roof supports.

Saleen actually offers this exact thing right now on the 05+ mustangs and calls it the sports roof or something like that.

There is a concept car somewhere supposedly a 2010 car but nothing is for real. As far as a glass top that's available in the current car its quite expensive. I have only seen it on Saleen's they call it Scenic Roof its like 4,000 option on Saleens.

That's the first I heard about it. Don't think so, but who knows what's in the future?
