Any one of a number of reasons...
1. For the Designated Drivers
2. You can have 1 drink and still be well under the legal limit.
3. You can opt to leave the car, take a cab, and come back to get it later.
4. You may not be drinking... many bar's are also restaurants!
5. Were do the employees park?
I can go on and on, but I think you get the point.
... and yes, this question gets asked all the time. Interesting that you'd decide to make it one of your first questions.
Here some other fun ponderables...
Why do drive-up ATM's have Braille on them?
(Cuz they make them all the same)
Why do stores that are open 24/7 have locks on the doors?
(What do they do if they go out of business?)
Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?
(That's the english language for ya!)

The parking lot is for the designated drivers, the bar patrons who don't drink alcohol, and so the taxis the drinkers call for a ride home, won't have to double park out front.

LMAO!!!! Good query. Hahahaha! I haven't any proposal except it's supposed to be a condo like lot so that you can get your taxi residence. What puzzles me extra, is why there arent any police officers external ready to arrest men and women for bein under the influence of alcohol in public. Technically they're after they go out the bar, correct?? I imply if they're gonna nail men and women for smokin in a bar, then why dont they do this. It is not any one of a kind.

have u ever been in a bar that happens to have been picked as a stop on a poker run? on the run's i've been on, u'd go from ample parking, to motorcycle parking only in a hurry when the pack starts rolling in.
i do all my drinking at home....cheaper. no dwi tickets especially.

i love deep thoughts about meaningless things....city codes, and the fact that most buildings arent built with a specific purpose in mind. One year it can be an ice cream shop and the next , a bar.
