I remember when there was no such thing as a good war. They were all bad. I guess times have changed.

The best war huh? - No such thing!!
War is war and every war that has ever been throughout history has always ended up with people dying with little or no good coming from conflict.
The 2ND world war brought many technical advances that we take for granted today also brought the nuclear bomb which does mean that mankind could if stupid enough kill every living thing on this planet!. Vietnam brought more technical advances in weaponry along with more diabolical ways to kill men. (napalm, / agent orange/cluster bombs) etc.
Vietnam the 10000 day war, saw young men shipped overseas to a place that no one other than a few Japanese , English and French soldiers had ever heard of, Its limitless expanses of primeval jungle only resounded to the roar of tigers rather then the clatter of machine guns and the scream of F4 phantoms.
Its no surprising that the nature of that war took many good men to the very brink of their endurance and in some case way beyond! - Their understanding of why they were fighting for something they knew little or cared less about! simply added to the frustration and hopeless feelings that are well documented in publications about the war.
Men - soldiers / do best in combat when they understand and agree with the reasons for what they are doing. Its well known that if a true and honest cause then men will fight and die willingly.
At first Iraq seemed to fit this description. The overthrow of saddam Hussain was seen has a valid and proper thing to do. Months and years go by -The doubt sets in, the body bags fill and the coffins come home the doubts about the reasons for the war grow.. Boys will be home by Christmas blah blah blah, we've heard it all before!

Taking your question in its context Vietnam was the better war. Yes you had lots of drugs and you could drink and there were the women (my sister number 10 GI). So yes if you weren’t on patrol or stuck on some lousy hill or firebase overlooking the DMZ or Laos it was an eye opener to us Americans. We had a bit more freedom then they do In Iraq, but again when we had a battle we lost a lot more guys because we were fighting a large trained NVA force most of the time.
Now take your question out of context, War Suck’s. Seeing friends killed and living with that carp for the rest of your life is hard to justify.

Uh, correction folks, In the Viet Nam Police action, technically there were over 55,000 troops killed or MIA. Some have not or never will be recovered.
With V N, that war will probably go down in History as the most unpopular protested war but because of 9/11 the Iraq war will most likely be touted as the war of the unknown simply because in VN you could more or less "see" your enemy coming at you and with the terrorism and IED's and sleeper cells being utilized with this Universal war, it most likely will never reach a conclusion. Even if 98% of our troops do manage to survive and come home, this war on terrorism will be the most elusive one in all of our lifetimes.

'Nam was the better war. Not for the reasons you listed. If your going to be killed or disabled or fight at all and live with the memories it is better for a purpose. Real freedom and commitment to an allied country is a lot better than the excuse of overthrowing a tin horn dictator and staying because big oil and an administration up to its ears in the energy "bidness" can't bear to leave with all that money under the ground.

In Viet Nam, the leader of our enemy was a good man, well loved by his people. Saddam Hussein was a monster, hated by virtually the entire country. That alone makes Iraq a better war.

Doesn't really matter. The Americans lost the first and they are about to lose the second. Just wait untill all foreign troops have gone, there'll be a bloodshed of paybacks.

Well they are similar in the fact that liberals are undermining America, spiting on the troops and Aiding and comforting the enemy.
The difference is that now they only do it with words and not actions.
The War in Iraq is one front in a global war on terror. If you do research into the middle east, Islamic exteremist are very similar to Nazi's this includes Jewish extermination.
Mien Kampf is one of the best selling books in the middle east right now.

The same.
Very similar outcome.
In Vietnam we took over the French to combat the Vietcong, at the end we gave up.
In Iraq we are fighting Israel war... guess what will be the outcome?
This is my guess:
The US will negotiate a truce treaty with the insurgency , in exchange for the head of Ben Laden

Not the same war, not the same result not even close to the same political atmosphere at home and the participants are all volunteeers as opposed to draftees.
You are looking at apples and oranges.
Try making fruit salad.

The great thing about 'Nam is that people actually protested. With Iraq, all you get is a bunch of complaining.
