The bottle says 1 to 2, but this is obviously a MUCH lower dose than you would take if you made a tea from the powder.

Thanks Cindy! 310 grams would be over 1500 pills at 200 mg a pop, so I think I am well under that limit.

Canine, thanks as well, but do you have links to these studies? All I've seen are some rather ambiguous studies regarding potential liver damage after significantly heavy use. And in all these cases other prescription drugs were a factor, leading the researchers to conclude that if anything, kava could create a synergistic effect when combined with other drugs, and only in heavy amounts.

I'm not sure how much at one time, but this article (see the link below) says that more than 310 grams in a week is considered a heavy dose.
Kava can cause liver failure or hepatitis (not viral hepatitis) if it is taken in an excessive amount or if there is pre-existing liver disease. Alcohol consumption increases the risk of liver failure. Please be very careful. Best wishes.

Zero: studies have shown that to be one of the more dangerous food additives (not officially a drug so not regulated as such).
